Tonight is Earthsea on SciFi....I can't wait. Read them in jr. high...way back when 'saurs roamed the earth. Even have dinners planned out for today and tom. so I don't have to worry with them and miss any of the stories.
Oh, 2long, yesterday on Pimp My Ride, they tricked out a 58 VW bus. It had an automatic surf board lift and a dryer on board. It was very deco....I still like the original best, but that was neat-o.

D: Sadly, I'm on travel, and have a full schedule every night! Gonna make sure the fam records it, though! I once saw about a '62 VW bus all camper'd out with willow wood furniture and bark on the walls. Very rustic! HUGE Sci-fi fan here. My 14 yr old daughter and I have been waiting to see Earthsea since they started advertising it. She is a more avid sci-fi fan than I am though. Speaking of Pimp My Ride......she watches that too......she has decided that she wants her first car to be.....a THING. Know how hard those things are to find? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> We were joking around with her about getting her a VW Van.....and to our surprise....she said she would love it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Way cool. One thing to remember, if you live where it's windy, they sway in the big winds (top heavy). I had a horrible time driving mine from Austin to Dallas one Thanksgiving. Every time a semi passed me, I'd get swept along in their backdraft, then with the wind...OY! I used my arm muscles that day!
A good friend in high school had a regular surfers van. It was so fun to pile in and go on road trips.
They are VERY easy to fix yourself, too. I replaced the clutch in mine with the aid of a fix-it book.

And while I do love the ol' VW buses (the "Splitties are the BEST", and a "Barndoor" even better!), it's true what Bill Cosby said about the old VWs: "If you have a head-on collision with a dog, you lose." That was particularly true when up against the Detroit Irons of the day. There are a 2ple of consolations, though: The roads these days in the US are mostly divided, so you're not driving against traffic so much anymore, and most importantly, frontal collisions on divided highways require that you overtake the car in front of you and... ...well, you get the idea!\
So, how was the show?
