My ex's young adult daughter left a message on my answering machine at home today while I was at work.

She said -

Hi this is ___________, my dad is at my house this week and he wanted me to give you my new phone number in case you wanted to call him.

Bye.

He won't call me because I asked him not to. I told him it was time for us to move on. I still feel that way, and I don't think I should call him. I think he gave me the number so I could call him if I needed to, like if I was having a hard time of it.

I still care very much for him and hope someday things will change. But for now I have seen no growth from him, and think he is still a cheater.

Am I right not to call, or is it mean?

Thanks,

Weaver, you know I am far from being very knowledgable in this stuff but, I dont think its mean to not call. Maybe next time, but cross that bridge later. I have read most of your posts and maybe this isnt right for you.

If you havent seen any growth in him what would you hope to gain by just calling him?

I just didn't want to hurt his feelings. I don't like the thought of him depressed.

I know it is stupid, just wanted someone to tell me it isn't mean not to call.

I really don't want to call him.

Thank you Learning.

Weaver,

I think that Ex is putting out feelers..trying to establish whether you are serious about moving on or not.

He isn't calling you himself [really standing with his toes on the line though <laughs>] so he's still technically honoring your request..while undermining it all the same.

That pretty much demonstrates where he is *at* right now.

Difficult, I'm sure..as you have said..you feel for him still, very greatly..had planned a future with this man..but ultimately decided he was not made of the necessary materials for your building project <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> . Nothing has changed. Must of threw you off balance though. No fun. Maybe next week he will have his friends pass you a note in study hall

Weaver, you are pretty..I like you
Do you like me too?

circle one <yes> <no>

I know what weaver would say. If he doesn't have the guts to make a simple call, he surely won't have the fortitude to take on a complex task like repairing a relationship. Hopefully one day he will, and only if you want him to.

Noodle,

Yes, you are right junior high manipulation at it's finest.

Glad I posted this though because I probably would have called him, sucker that I am.

Thanks Noodle.
