As I've stated in recent posts, I live in a relatively small town. The surrounding towns are much smaller.
This last Saturday a man that my H and I met through friends shot his wife and then killed himself about and hour and 45 minutes after they were officially divorced.
At around 8:45, Friday morning they appeared in court to disolve their marriage. We assumed it was mutual because they seemed to be getting along just fine. No arguments or anything.....they just said....we make better friends than spouses. They had been married for 6 years and seperated since November of 2004.
The W picked him up for the court date and the judge and everyone else said that it was the easiest divorce case he'd seen in many many years. Even commented on the fact that is was nice that they could be friendly given the circumstances.
The couple left together, as she was taking him back to his house since he rode with her.
According to some family members she still had some pictures in the house that she needed to get.
Nobody really knows why he shot her.....but after he shot her he called a relative and told them what he had done and told them that he didn't want to spend the rest of his life in prison....and then hung up. Then he shot himself.
It was said that they got into an argument over a picture that she wanted but he didn't want her to have it. But....nobody really knows.
It was really shocking to hear this because there were no warning signs. They still seemed to be close friends and everything seemed to be going fine for each of them.
Just shocking! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />

Well this story never made it to divorce, in fact the whole story never came out in the papers even.
It was an emergency call that my dept. ran on.
A husband and wife who by other accounts were getting along fine and happily married went out on the town for the evening. Drank and Danced. (according to newspaper)
She becomes angry at him for something during the evening. (Don't WS always find something to argue about)
On the way home she tells him that she has been cheating on him for the past two years and has been getting %^*#@ every Tuesday and Thursday since then. (BTW this is the story as related by the Wife, she said this from her own lips, the husband isn't talking)
The H freaks out and drives his car into a ditch flipping it over. The H survives with minor injuries. The cheating W is paralyzed.
The newspaper says Crazy H tries to kill wife.

It truly is frightening how some people can snap during marriage issues or during DV.
Tragic true story: Friends of my XH (I only met them once so don't remember them well) a number of years ago were having serious marital difficulties. I think she had filed for DV.
At any rate, something happened and he snapped. He shot her, and then shot himself. They both died. They had two preteen children who were in the house to witness the whole thing.
I am still sickened to think about it.
I know how low people can feel during all this (I've BEEN THERE!) but just hope people would think.

In the Summer of '2003, here in Gig Harbor WA, the chief of police shot his wife and then himself in a parking lot in front of their two young children in a very busy family oriented shopping mall on a Saturday afternoon.
His wife had left him and had filed for divorce.
The children ran into the nearby Starbucks where people there called the police. They both died. Very sad.
I frequent that same parking lot daily and to this day I cannot park my car near the site where it happened.
