I am still dealing with the re-examination of my 2003 return. This all started in about July of last year. Apparently it stems from an audit of my 2000 return that they did in late 2002.
Sent in the documentation to prove my filing status, etc., in January 2005.
Got fed up and started calling the IRS every other day for 2 weeks. documented every phone call with name, date, time, and employee number along with what they told me. Even found out whose desk the paperwork was on.
When I wasn't getting the help I needed - someone to help me get my refune....I finally got mad. And I got referred to the Taxpayer Advocate's office. Then I found out the advocate's name I was given was a supervisor who was out of the office most of this week.
That was the straw that broke the camel's back.
I emailed an investigative reporter at a local television station and the office of one of my U.S. Senators.
This morning I heard from an underling advocate. Then I heard from my senator's office.
By the end of this month, I should have my 2003 refund.
Then they will finish the reexamination of my 2004 return based on the findings of the 2003 return. And I should have that money by the end of June.
Do you know how much fun this has been? NOT!!!!!!!
