Well, not knowing all the aspects of the situation, there is not much I can do. However, if he is unhappy with his lawyer, he needs to make an appointment with the lawyer to discuss the options.

I have no idea why the lawyer would want to get the divorce done prior to a county commissioner's meeting, but there could be a good reason. He needes to discuss this with the lawyer.

If he really wants the divorce put on hold, he needs to put that in a letter and send it certified to that lawyer. I would also hand-deliver a copy, stating exactly how he wants to proceed.

I'm starting to learn that every state has its own rules when it comes to family/divorce law. Both Aslan and my attorney-friend in N. Car. say that you really need to find a new lawyer in your state. See if your state has Legal Aid to get low-cost legal assistance. Then, do as Aslan has recommended ...

my lawyer didn't want me to get the divorce done before the commissioners hearing but was rushing the hearing date which is next month. I didn't want the commissioners hearing at all and also me and the lawyer didn't see I to eye on things with my case such as spousal support for me, child support, custody, etc. My lawyer just wanted to let me throw all my rights way. And I was not happy with this at all.also what happen at a commissioners hearing what if I don't have a lawyer at that time.
