My WH makes me want to scream! He hasn't seen his kids for 3-4 weeks. Never called, emailed or TM-ed about anything this weekend. However, today, he expects us all to come together with his parents for a nice family picnic. I've seen this pattern at Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter and Memorial Day. At this point, I refused to do the planning and it makes me into the meanie. On Mother's Day, when WH called his mom at 9:30 pm, he expressed regret that he hadn't known everybody was at our house for a picnic. Hmmm, maybe if he'd called earlier? WH just doesn't get it.
Today has been no exception. His parents and I were trying to get something together. MIL got him to call me and it wasn't pretty. In the end, I refused to go to his parents with him. I don't think he will go by himself. I have explained my position to my inlaws. They are sympathic and understand that this kind of together is not honest. WH thinks his parents should be kept out of it. I certainly agree that his parents shouldn't be caught in the middle but WH shouldn't deny the affect his actions have had on everyone. We've been having a snitty TM exchange about it. So much fog on such a sunny day.
WH has many excuses. Aside from OW, WH has been sucked into the corporate sweatshop. Long days, weekends, holidays: you name it. He believes that if he's been working at his job it gives him all the excuses he needs for his absence. He does work a lot of hours but there's no accountability for it. It's doubtful he was working every moment of the weekend. A cellphone can be answered anywhere. There has been no indication that contact has stopped with slimeball OW. I'm quite sure that there is still contact. My gut feeling is that she won't allow him to family holiday activities. How's that for family values? That's why he tries to come to us.
So, I'm left feeling that I've shut him out. Since most of MB is going against your feelings, I'm thinking that maybe I've done okay. I think Plan B is coming closer and closer.
