I would seek the help of a financial advisor...I'd talk to your W and tell her you will agree to it if the advisor thinks it is a wise idea. If not, let her go forward with D. It sounds like your W is being totally unreasonable. When you are married, your financial decisions are not made by one, they are joint decisions. Whatever you do, I would not agree to sign anything that you are not comfortable with, that is no way to save a marriage. How do you figure that D would mean financial ruin for you? That sounds like a better idea than going into debt willingly. You may want to seek the advice of a financial advisor/attourney anyway, for yourself to understand the repercusions of your wife going into debt while married to you.

Your state may have laws that can somehow make her debt her own, and not yours. I suggest you ask an attorney.

And keep posting here; there is at least one practicing attorney that participates from time to time - so you may get a useful response.

Can I suggest you start a new thread in the Infidelity/General Questions II area? It gets a lot more viewers. The people there are very sympathetic and helpful; and will understand if your question isn't really about infidelity. Good luck!

Not enough info here for me to make sense of your situtuion.

Do not do anything you are not comfortable with. There are often many solutions to consider.

Have you contacted Crown fincial minstries? They are on the net and can help you find a local advisor. They do not charge a fee.

I agree you should repost.
I will put you in my prayers

What does your wife need money for?

Unecessary home improvements?

Or something critical like a septic system repair, new roof, heating system? Education for herself or children? Dental surgery?

You failed to include important details like why you feel you cannot pay back the loan. Does your wife work?

Keewee said it sounds like your wife is being totally unreasonable, but my feeling is that she must have a good reason if she's using the "D" word.
