Child support is generally a fixed percentage of your income. How are you getting screwed?

edited to add:
You are obligated to support your child as is the child's mother. I realize that you have bills to pay but they should be no different than any other parents bills.

If your incomes are comparable and you don't want to pay child support then offer equal shared custody of your child.

s350sxx,

I don't know what state you live in, but if she only has custody of the child 2 out of 7 days, she should probably be paying you child support.

Now, there are a bunch of ways you can go about this. You can request that she pay all the daycare expenses, for example. If you do indeed have the child most of the time, and your lawyer thinks you'll have to pay $600 support, I suggest you get a second legal opinion. Even if you have to spend $5,000 to get that opinion, if it saves you $7,200 in the first year, you've come out ahead.
