a birthday card from XBF. Caught me totally by surprise. It was a lovely card, also expressing how sorry he was for hurting me, and that he'll always cherish our time together and that I'll always have a special place in his heart. The biggest surprise of all? I didn't fall apart <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> Ok, I did have a bit of a nice cry, but it's what I needed to hear. What I've struggled w/ the most is how quickly I felt his feelings had changed and that he'd moved on. I now *really* know I had as much of an impact on him as he did me. Now I can let that pain go. Onward and upward. Each day gets better and better. Baby steps, no? DW

Yes DW, that is what you needed to hear, and it's okay that you cried a bit.
I think it does help the healing process to know these important details.
I'm very glad for you that you got to read these words from him.

I have a question and want ya'lls input......
I was going to send him a brief email, thanking him for the card and the sentiments expressed and wishing him well, but I don't want my intentions to be misconstrued nor are there any expectations on my part of any kind. I simply want to thank him, b/c he has, unknowingly, set that part of my pain free and I'm grateful.
Whaddya guys think?

ehhh, I say leave the age. Hang on to the 30's DW!
My response would have been, a simple email I would think would be fine.
I'm sure you handled it quite nicely!
He will know there are no hard feelings, and that must be a positive!
