WH called me last night and told me that he is moving out of MIL's into an apartment near work and setting himself up a separate bank account. I have mixed emotions about it.

BAD: Of course, the call was primarily to inform me that he will be only putting half his paycheck in the joint account until D is final. I honestly don't think he can pay rent and bills on his pay so I will be surprised to see half. Once I agreed to take just half, he came up with an excuse to get off the phone real fast. It really drills in the fact that our M is over and he has moved on.

GOOD: I'm kinda proud of him for taking on this responsibility. Even though MIL will have to help him out, there are few things more pitiful than a 44 yr old man living with his widowed mother. I won't have to worry any more that something has bounced because he's written a check that I don't about. Also, he got up the nerve to call himself rather than emailing or having someone else call for him as usual. He's been driving 1-2 hours each way to & from work (near my house) each day so this will be a lot safer. Hopefully D will be final by end of March so the money won't be much of an issue.

Of course what he didn't say raises even more questions.

* OW lives near MIL. Is she out of the picture???
* Most apts require 6mo lease and his teaching contract was not renewed for next year. Why move here?
* I did notice that he has made some calls to MW that he used to teach with. Top-heavy mother figure like OW.
* There is a head fb coach opening at a school in the same district. WH has an influencial good friend whose son goes there. It was the first school WH worked at when we moved to this area and WH left with hard feelings. However, the school now has a different administration. That school does require teachers to attend their church on a regular basis.

I guess the good outweighs the bad. I still love him and hope he straightens out his life even if I'm not in it. It's bittersweet. Kinda like watching your child grow up. OUCH, that was the big problem in our M.
