last night...went out with friend/coworker at work...she is so fun. we had a blast.
first stop? to investigate the "dating event" that my xh emailed me about...we snuck in...
hilarious! well I was about 30 years younger than all the attendees...somebody remind me to go there if I am twenty years older and still single though. we snuck in and out...one or two guys saw us and followed us out to the hotel lobby where she and I got a diet coke and planned next part of our evening...the guys actually followed us around...asked "why didn't you go in? we were having a blast...SQUAREDANCING IS FUN IF YOU TRY IT?" yea, they were squaredancing. squaredancing? freaky really.
and the women? It was scary too. seeing people my mom's age trying to wear what 20 somethings are wearing...men and women trying to look 30 years younger and it was a bit scary for me....sorry folks. nothing wrong with aging at all..JUST BE WHO YOU ARE!
when at bar drinking our diet cokes, we saw many older men hitting on the women there. they were pro's...talking about attending this singles' event and going to that single's event...and the second the guys saw us..they zeroed in on us...and we ran for the hills...straight for the valet!
so next...? we decided it was time to visit the opposite end of spectrum. we went to the most famous pro singles place in atlanta...hint..it's in buckhead...and not on main strip...
we, in our 30's, were some of the older people there...but many our age. ran into some of my friends there and she and i had a blast. listened to a dave matthew's soundalike band...they were awesome! and had alot of fun. but we also analyzed the singles there too. very scary indeed. apparently, what is going on at most of these places is that 1)they meet 2)they decide to go to a second place afterwards to talk and 3)if it works out they either go home and get busy or go out for breakfast.
yep. that is how it works thesedays being a single.
talked to a bunch of my friends...not close ones, just ones I know from a professional organization I am a member of. and this is what happens...the unmarried singles in atl are doing this...and I feel like...
well I feel like...
a fish outta water ....or a princess who fell into a coma after finding out her prince was a warty ol' frog and woke up and suddenly 10 years outta her life was missing...maybe it was from the frog or could have been an alien abduction or something?
since my xh, darth is by definition an alien, maybe it was just a 10 year abduction experience.
anyway...last night taught me this... 1)unmarried no kids single women in atl are far too skinny. their employers must not pay them enough as they cannot buy food. or else they are making difficult life choices such as jimmy choo shoes or food? which do I buy with my earned income?
thus I am out door to run...laugh, giggle and get the lead out at the greenbelt in a while...well maybe after another hour of sleep.
2) professional single people exist. they work it like a business...it is frightening. I will never squeeze myself into a halter top at 60 wearing lowrise jeans. I resolve that even if I have the hottest figure for a sixty year old gal, I will never do it! and I will never date a man who colors his hair black at sixty either. bleech!
3)I feel EITHER TOO YOUNG OR TOO OLD for the singles places now. I am not fitting in any place at all. wierd. very very wierd.
so I am just gonna go out to cultural stuff...art, theater, wine tastings, professional societies, etc.
and btw...me and my friend sue had a blast last night...we got in at 2...and we called each other this morning saying...man HOW DID WE DO THIS AT 20?
I still got a ways to go here in the being newly single department to learn apparently.

heya peachy...god that sounds like so much fun.....i went out 2 weeks ago...and actually go up in the gogo cage....yeah I was dabomb....j/k.....well i haven't really been leading the going out partying singles life....i am still with the guy i started seeing in nov. he came over last night...we are switching off by my going to his house and him coming over here when my son is at his dads. we have developed the passion for cooking...we take turns cooking for each other....valentines day he made me artichokes...i have lived near castroville the artichoke capitol of the world my whole life and never tried an artichoke....so he is helping me experience new foods i have never tried. Things are moving slow at a snails pace...he is very cautious..i believe a little trauma from a past failed relationship. But I have really developed feeling for him and he is showing signs he is too. I need one of your prayer requests going there I really want this one to work out.....anyways my dance classes are going spectacularly....i will be in the spring dance concert at my college...this time i will be not in hip hop...but in....belly dancing...yes i said it....i have learned the ultimate primative sultry dance style......you want to get a man do turn to mush at your feet and burn with desire...omg take a belly dancing class. Must have something to do with the hips. AS for the diet stuff....I haven't recieved my book yet peach...the guy sent it over a week ago and my assignments are late for my class now....i'm begining to panic...but as soon as I get it i will post stuff on the diet info. well peachy I wish ya luck...you are a beautiful woman.....don't be discouraged by the old men at the singles event....they suck...when i joined a singles site seemed like i kept only getting guys old enough to be my father trying to message me *shudder* creepy. *hugs* love and light...things will get better.
