Did IC and MC ever "overlap"? In other words, when you were in IC, did you discuss your spouse and your marriage or just your personal "issues"?

I have discussed it all. It's all part of your issues.

Thanks for your input, eagle. For me, it's just that my FWH goes to IC, talks to C and then when we're in MC together, she springs something on me that is new to me that my FWH discussed when he was in IC with her. I just thought that we should discuss our marriage issues together. I don't like to be, what I view as, "taken by surprise" in MC. I told C this and she said the same thing as you did. I suppose it's me, then.

Well, your C shouldn't spring things on you but approach them in a way that doesn't make you feel like you are being ganged up on. Is your IC same as his IC and both MC??? From what I understand and have read MC should not be 1 or other's IC, maybe both IC and MC but not just one.
What is discussed in IC should be between IC and FWH, or your IC and you. If either you or FWH brings subject up then it's open for discussion, if not it should be worked on with IC and client privately.
I don't know for sure but seems like it should be that way. I think that's why they have those privacy letters you have to sign.

C is my FWH IC and our MC. I am not in IC right now. I'm having a problem with this right now and I think I'll discuss the style of counseling during next session. I'm just very confused right now. Thanks so much, eagle!

When I was dealing with my sex addiction, the counselor we used was our MC and IC for the both of us. I guess the one thing my wife and I always did after IC was discuss at a high level what our IC was about. We didn't always go into details, but if there were things we knew would be addressed in the MC sessions we talked about them. Usually there were no surprises for us.
