Have not posted in very long time, but situation arrived and I am asking for opinions. Brief history. I was married for 29 yrs when former husband left me 8 yrs ago for OW. They have lived together since the divorce, but supposedly got engaged 5 yrs ago. I have never spoken one word to this woman in all this time.My former husband and I try to be on somewhat friendly terms for our children and grandchildrens sake.
Our youngest son is getting married this fall in Italy. It will be an all day party at a restaraunt that has been rented out , with tons of food and plenty of music.,blah ,blah. To make a long story short, my former husband made the comment to me that he , his girlfriend and I could sit at the same table, and that her and I might actually be friends by the end of the evening!
Why would I want to sit with the man who left me and the woman he left me for? Their actions destroyed my marriage, almost put me in a pschiatric ward for severe depression, and my childrens home was forever changed. I hold them no ill will, but I don't want to be sitting at the same table and have this right back in my face. AM I over reacting????

I'm with you. I would not enjoy sharing a table with the infidels.

Of course, I think you should go and enjoy the wedding. Just be sure that you are seated AWAY from them.

I would tell your ex that maybe she can make friends with someone else - preferably someone WITHOUT a spouse.

Nope. Not 1 bit. But this is about your son's choice? Will he allow an OW at his wedding?

Surely the OW wouldn't darken the wedding with her presence by showing up? Did your son invite her? Personally, I would find it incredibly callous and disrespectful to find out that he did. I would have to pass on attending his wedding myself.

I would definitely attend my son's wedding and have a "fabulous" time. I would definitely NOT sit with my ex husband and his GF that destroyed my marriage. Your Ex is insensitive to the extreme to suggest such a thing.
Above all don't let it spoil your wonderful day at the wedding. This is a precious time you don't want to lose or diminish.
