Since many of us here - know the short comings/red flags/ etc. of our previous marriages. And none of us want to make another mistake, that's for sure. So .................... I wonder if you can fall in love without having been infatuated?

YES! And I was a nay-sayer before.

Of course you can...but it will never become the relationship it could've been.
There was no "infatuation" in my marriage. I loved my wife, but there was never an of that giddy passion that come with infatuation. I couldn't fix this. I could fake this (I tried).
So while an "infatuation" doesn't make a solid foundation for a LTR, neither does attachment without it.

Well, define infatuation. I do get that giddy feeling now. But I'm not blind.

Good heavens, I haven't had that feeling since I was a teenager!!
I don't think I've ever had a relationship with a person I've been infactuated with. It's just too embarrassing to goo-goo-gaa-gaa-salivate over your object of fantasy.
So yep. I'm the boring, practical one here. Never infatuated with exH, but loved him, discovered good things in him, had faith in him.
