Matthew 19:9 "And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." (NASB) It also says that Saul was the greatest persecutor then Paul became the greatest champion. Not that it's a get out of jail free card to do wrong things then make up for them later, people answer for their sins. But I know an awful lot of GOOD people who contribute and came from troublesome, wicked backgrounds. Did some BAD things in the past. And there are lots of goody-two-shoes who do no wrong. Unless you count sitting on their fat duffs in church wrong. Wasn't there a part about "the washing away of sins?" It's in there somewhere, I swear.

LO..
Good point..not my point..but a good one.
It sort of applies to what I'm saying.
Let's agree that christ does not exist in history and religion independent of scripture..so whether a person is a biblical literalist or not..they will probably at least be influenced by what scripture has to say about the topic.
My point was..that there is/are viable arguaments that can be made utilizing scripture which do not agree with each other.
So..it's impossible really for a definative conclusion to be drawn.
Each person will have to account for the interpretation that they accept and that is not something that would weight lightly on a person who BELIEVES in accountability to God.

Hmmm.
So why are we mulling this around noodle?
Let's stretch our comfort zones a bit...
If you are a WS who has left your marriage, I would say you are very interested in this answer because you are struggling to justify your "new" relationship. Heck, if it can be OK with the Big Guy, then it can be OK. And all that pain I put my ex through was worth it. I don't have to feel guilty. To which I would say, you didn't have to "feel" anything. But you DID feel guilty about it, otherwise why the soul-searching. Hmmmmm. Jumping to the quick fix a bit? I don't doubt it, you DID have an affair.
And if you are a BS who is watching your WS live happily ever after with the OP, then you are probably pulling for the conclusion that it is still adulterous. Thereby giving you some satisfaction that "well, they may be happy, but they're going to ******." To which I would say, at what point do anyone elses choices steer our own spiritual well being? Feel sad, feel bad, work through the pain, but at some point, you may have to accept the fact that your ex COULD be happier with someone else. And as much as it hurts, you probably don't want an individual like that in the first place.
And everyone else who does not fall into said categories, well, they fall into one of the following three:
a) actually interested in the theology b) watching for the ensuing fight between the MB Christians and Atheists c) really, really bored because their children have all the HALO rigs occupied right now.
I'm definately a c). At least now. But I'm probably an a). But if I find any of you b's) out there, well the kid gloves come off <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Like I said before, it'll get TOO heavy folks.
Hey noodle? Wanna play canasta?
Or maybe HALO? I'll have a rig open at bedtime....

I can't play video games NC..I've TRIED but I just run around in dizzy circles [my steering coordination apparently leaves something to be desired].
I agree it's gonna get heavy NC..and yes..despite being specifically a look at what scripture says..seems to say..implies..suggests lol..the atheists are not going to like it.
I'm definately an A..with a side of C because let's face it..if my personal world was either shattering or swirling about in flames I certainly wouldn't be sitting on the COMPUTOR I'd be too busy.

Nah, athiests don't mind much. At least I don't. I don't believe the Bible was divinely inspired or has anything to do with the will of God. But, that doesn't mean that there's nothing in there that's worthwhile. People seem to get a lot of personal benefit to their beliefs, why would I begrudge them that? If it makes them feel more at peace to believe in a world where I go to eternal punishment, then that doesn't ruffle my feathers much. I just don't believe it with them. Similarly, if I believe that you simply decompose after you die, it doesn't affect your belief in eternal reward. No harm. No foul. Mys Your friendly, neighborhood athiest

NC,
"Wasn't there a part about "the washing away of sins?" It's in there somewhere, I swear."
Yes, right next to "Go and sin no more." As in Saul ended his persecution and tried to atone for it. As in end the adultery (as defined in M19:9), period.
PS: I am a c. DS and I will meet you at Blood Gulch. I’ll be in a Ghost.

Whoa...
I never said I can play them. There are WAY to many buttons on these controllers. And there is way too much going on on the screen. There are three variants to video games at my house. No matter the game, no matter the system, it goes down according to one of the following scripts:
Script #1: NCWalker: Now that does THAT mean??!!? Lil' Walker: Dad. You're dead. NCWalker: WELL, IF IT WAS PONG I'D SCHOOL YA!!!
Script #2: NCWalker: How'd you do that to me again?!!??! Lil' Walker: Jeez, dad, you just hit B-purple-C and A at the same time, then triangle, pull the trigger, B - B star... NCWalker: (balling fist and soundly striking Lil' Walker on the nose)You mean a star like that?
Script #3: NCWalker: OH YEAHHHHH! I GOT YA NOW, THE OLD MAN IS SENDING YOU DOWN IN FLAMES!!!! Lil' Walker: (realizing I have unplugged his controller when he wasn't watching)GET YOUR BIG BUTT OFF THE CONTROLLER PLUG, THAT'S CHEATING!!!!! NCWalker: So tell the referee, do ya see him?
But. It's still fun. I think. I can never tell what's going on.

Oh its ON!!!!!!!!!!!
The Lil' Walkers are HALO nutballs. One time they were playing on line, and my youngest two (10 and 6) literally schooled these two kids. The one had a really bad attitude at the fact that he was completely dominated. I can hear him over the TV saying "Well, I'm playing with my little brother, he's only 12." The ten year old looked over his shoulder and smiled. It was funny.
Me. I just drink a beer and try and follow it. Once we get a trebuchet in Halo, I'll be trouble. But you and your boy would murder me.

DS and I play as a team, when I am on. He sends me in as pointman to draw fire then he cleans up while I get reborn back at the base.
Seems to work for him anyway, and I like the way he laughs when I die....

NoodleYep you're wrong and you're going to h e double hockey sticks...if you've found a way for that belief to be inoffensive outside of concluding that I must be either wrong..wrong and a lunatic..wrong a lunatic and an ignorant bigot you are in the minority! I do think you're wrong. I don't think such a place exists. I don't know if you're a lunatic or not -- though it sounds like you're very pregnant and I've learned to step lightly around those ladies! *nudges you playfully* As for an ignorant bigot? I have no idea. You might be ignorant in the sense that you might think that I believe things that simply aren't true. I'm often perplexed at the opinions that get assigned to athiests - such as that we all categorically hate Christians. To me, that makes about as much sense as saying all white people hate blacks. Why would they? Anyway, as for you being a bigot, I have no idea how you feel about athiests. Perhaps you categorically hate us all, too. That would certainly fall under a 'bigoted' category for me (hating people by category rather than for personal flaws). I'm not offended that you believe in heaven and he11. I'm not offended that you believe in a set of rules that govern who goes where. I will confess that I don't understand Christianity at all. I've often tried to really ask questions and figure out where you guys are coming from. You all seem to think this stuff is important but it's not explained very well. For example, I find so much beauty in some of the things you (generic 'you' as in 'you Christians') believe -- the concept of grace, compassion, love, rebirth, wholeness, healing. And, I find so much horror and cruelty in what I undersand about what you believe (eternal punishment, flawed construction (man is flawed), original sin, judgement, etc..). To me, the entire set of concepts is completely ungraspable -- and maybe that's also OK because God is supposed to be unfathomable. The unfathomability does make it wholly unbelievable to me. Not because I want to offend you all -- it just really does. I'm not an athiest because I hate Christians... I'm an athiest because I can't believe in God. Mys

That's probably what they would do with me.
I'd have to charge in with a readied grenade. But it would have to be a long straight shot for me to get anywhere.
I could probably handle driving one of the jeeps.
But I have enough sons that they don't really ask for help.
When I play, it is usually a real-time strategy game.
The kids do like it when we are involved though.
(And yes, we DO do more than play video games at the Walker household. We also go to the arcade. BWAAAAHAAAAAHAAAAAA!!!! I am poisoning my kids and there's nothing you can do about it!!! BWAAA HAAAAAAA!!!! And the funniest part, is YOUR kids will be supporting them on welfare!!!!!!!!)
Oh drat. We've done and messed up Mortarman's thread.

Anyway, as for you being a bigot, I have no idea how you feel about athiests. But the real question is - how does everyone feel about HALO??? No. No. That's not it. It's something about can an adulterous marriage become unadulterous? So let's keep this thread about HALO, people. ...or at least the other thing. The one Mortarman wanted to talk about.

No. No. That's not it. It's something about can an adulterous marriage become unadulterous? My FIL married his mistress about 10 years ago. I'm still pretty uncomfortable with their marriage because of how it began. It's not just a religious issue. But, I do understand that this is a religious thread, so I'll go back into lurk mode. Mys
