One year I arranged a sleigh ride for two (in New England during a snowy winter...our anniversary was in late February). It was one of our most memorable and romantic. A horse drawn sleigh took us for a ride through the fields of the farm under a full moon lighting our path. When we got to the center of the woods there was a huge fire pit that our chauffer lit with a bit of kindling and lighter fluid. We were left alone and "necked" for about 15 minutes. Then we were drawn by horse and sleigh back to the parking lot. It was beautiful, romantic, and the cold outside was warmed by the love we shared in our hearts. I think we went out for a hot drink afterwards like an Irish Coffee. I did hear it will be extra snowy this year so keep an eye open for something as simple and special as a sleigh ride. It cost over $100 a few years back and was worth it.
After that event we lacked in snow so we started spending our anniversaries at Captain Lord's Mansion in Kennebunkport Maine. It is expensive even in the off season but it oozes romance. If we missed a year then we splurged on a nicer room the following year. If you visit ten times you get a brick with your names laid into the brick walkway outdoors for an everlasting tribute to your time together.
