After the success of Madrid last year I have to think of something magical to do for our 21st anniversary on September 26th.

Do you have Windows Movie Maker? Pick out Squid's favorite song, then put together a photo album of you, Squid, and the kids...

Make her breakfast in bed, pamper her, then take her out for a picnic at a park or some other romantic place...

I suspect that whatever you decide to do for Squid, that she'll love it!

First off, Congratulations!

My H and I agreed to make our Cmas gifts last year....no $ except for materials if needed. He wrote me a long 3 page heartfelt letter of appreciation for all I mean to him.

I created a box....actually 2 concentric boxes I bought to fit, one inside the other. The outside one had the beginning part of a poem I'll link for you taped all around it. When you opened up the inside box, it had the remainder of the poem on the outside. On the inside, it had little oragami folded slips of paper on which I had written things he had asked me to consider to improve our R and M.

Adventurous outings, going fishing, playing board games, being more spontaneous, etc. I called it the Gift of Time and Thoughts.

It took a little bit of effort, but it was something I would have loved to receive and he appreciated it, too.

Regardless what you choose, I'm looking forward to hearing about it. Thanks for your continued inspiration.

Thats a LOVELY poem and thought. And also food for thought for me too !

Along the sme lines as Ace's box, I received a cookie tin
for Valentine's Day with hearts on the tin. On the inside were 25 slips of paper for special treats. I cashed one in on each day off he had. Use your imagination on this one.
I got breakfast in bed, a hot oil massage, a trip to Vicki's Secret, a candle lit dinner that he prepared and cleaned up after, and a few that are unmentionable. These were all things that he did for me, personally. One treat for each year of marriage. It was awesome!!!

I would have had to have 2 boxes if I included 'unmentionables'....H opened it and read it during the FAMILY Christmas celebration!

But.....I could do it privately for our own anniversary or V. Day like your H did.

Maybe I'll make a movie and include that too! Have you made any lately?

I'll be starting an update of my first this weekend and then doing another 10 minute one after that. Have you heard of a "Nero .7" program? It's supposedly more capable than movie maker....but enough of this threadjack.

I was just planning a date day for my DH and myself and remembered you were looking for ideas for your anniversary. DH and I celebrated our 21st this year also.

How is the weather where you are this time of year? If it's decent, why not plan a nice picnic in a scenic location?

DH and I are taking a roadtrip to an apple orchard tomorrow in a town where we use to keep our sailboat before we sold it this spring. I just now decided I am going to pack a nice picnic for us. I get up earlier than he does, I plan to pack the cooler and put it in the trunk w/o his knowledge. Once we are at our destination I am going to bring it up, then we can sit in the park and watch the sailboats while we enjoy each others company. I can't wait until tomorrow.

How about doing something like that. Since it is during the week, if you both work, why not take the day off?

Well all, owing to circumstances we can't have another "Madrid" this year.

So Squid is arranging a "surprise" meal for us tomorrow night.

Squid is a wine buff, so I bought her a couple of bottles of special wine.

A grand crianza rioja from the year we met ( 1982)
A grand cru burgundy from the year we had Ds10 ( 1997)
A fine bottle of her favourite single malt from the year DD14 was born ( 1993)
A bottle of Ruinart blanc de noirs grand cru rose champagne for the night's celebration.

All in a rustic wine holder with flowers.
