...who has lost his father today. 1 Thessalonians 4 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. I'm so sorry. Times like these turn our focus to the day when all thing will be made new. We are not without hope....

Romans 8:35-39 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,
For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Pegleg - Prayers to you in your grief. I'm so sorry.

Peg is young, even a bit younger than me. I'm sure this was very unexpected.

I am very sorry to hear about your dad Peg.
O God, Who hast commanded us to honour our father and our mother, in Thy mercy have pity on the soul of his father and forgive him his trespasses, and make Peg to see him again in the joy of everlasting light. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.
Amen.

Hello to all, Thank you to each of you for the thoughts and prayers. There are times when it is said that all we can do is pray. My belief is that prayer is the most and best thing we can do. And the fact that someone is willing to petition the Father on mine or my familys behalf is an amazing gift to me. Something I cherish as I believe this is, for some, giving all they can. Words can not really describe it to the full extent I want to but I am VERY appreciative!!! Neak, You are the only one here I know outside of MB. I thought I was older than you. I am so inspired by your thoughtfulness and compassion as you take the time to send thoughts for others. I know a bit about your life and struggles and you and your family are in my prayers. I see you as such a beautiful person that can only be explained by the character of our savior working through you. As we weather the storms in our lives, it is truely the Lord that strengthens us. But I feel that yours and many others struggles far out weigh mine.
As for my dad, he was only 62 years old. He had been sick for many years. He was a smoker for approximately 50 years. He was diabetic for around 30 years and also had high cholesterol. He had the quadrupal bypass, the heart attacks and a stroke. His heart, kidneys, and bladder were all working at less than 30% of what hey were supposed to be. Phisically he had deteriorated as well. Basically sitting in a chair the last 6 years or so. He had been on life support last year and we had decided to turn off the machine in two days but he woke up the next day. This past thursday, he blacked out and fell to the floor. The ambulance took him to the ER where his heart stopped for 25 minutes and the restarted but later failed again and there was no coming back this time.
I know he knew of God. I do not know if he had accepted the gift of salvation. I had tried talking with him and even had some of my church friends visit him. But there are people who we can see trying to live for the Lord and there are people that couldn't care less about God. I truely do not know what my dads beliefs were. He said he believed in God and Jesus etc. But I do not know if there was ever that true conversion. Ultimately we can never know about someone else unless we are fortunate to have the gift ourselves and then see that person. Who knows how it will all turn out but for me, I will continue trying to do Gods will and living in His light.
Again, thanks to all and God bless PL
