Jin,

Y'all gonna pan up in Dahalonega?

That's where my plane is!!

When y'all go panning, be sure to ask if Lemon their pet cockatoo is around to be played with. She is such a sweetie!

If y'all go during the Gold Days, my older brother and his wife will be up there in their 49er's outfits and he will make SURE you get every bit out of your bucket.

He has the knack for finding every last little bitty flake.

Actually we're going around here - just NW of the ATL. There's plenty of creeks with gold in them right here - Dahlonega is just the best known but it's over an hour away. We may go up there sometime, but only if we could make a day of it and/or go camping to make the trip worthwhile.

We didn't end up going this past weekend but plan to this weekend! I have to work Sunday afternoons, so it will be just for a few hours in a morning.

I'm only 20 miles south of Dahlonega in Canton, so I go about every other weekend. Besides, my Uncle has 80 acres up there with a stream right through it. I have been threatening to dredge it for years. I might just do so this spring. There is an old dam where a griss mill was and I keep getting good luck there.

Dig down deep in front of large rocks to find it.

You want to find the black iron ore sediment. That's where the gold hides.

OMG - the world gets smaller every day.

I'm in Canton. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Don't tell my BF that you have access to 80 acres of private property to prospect in, he'll want to be your newest bestest friend!

A co-worker's husband has bribed me into taking him hunting there this winter.

It'll be alot of fun as we will both use antique guns.

Canton, GA.

North of Atlanta, absolutely beautiful country except for all the new gigantic houses being built.

Lots and lots of horse farms too. I live on one now, renting a house.

The owners seem to like me and let me stay cheap.

I've been here 7 years - I'm part of the 'problem' of progress. Yep there's lots going up here- new retail space, new subdivisions. They are paving paradise and putting up a parking lot.

That seems to be the law of the jungle anymore.

B grew up around here and he's saddened by all the 'progress'.

Had lots of fun and ate too much for my 150lb frame!

B and I and my DS went to a geocaching event in Kennesaw and had a blast. Did some geocaching after that. We still haven't been panning but DS was at XH's on Sunday. Perhaps next weekend.

I'm boring too. Why - and this is only MY suggestion - does not everyone here (with exception of Princess) come on over to "The Kingdom" Of Caerlon? It's on Divorcing/Divorced boards.
Princess started this Thread a long time ago... waaaaaaaaay back in the dark ages.. Just hit 5,000 posts, but we keep losing folks.
Love to have y'all join us!
We are a bit boring.. i guess. There's three of us.. let's be boring together..

I have to work tomorrow, but it will be overtime.

HOLY COW, my income has TRIPLED since I took this job in Atlanta and the wifey still hasn't broke $12 an hour.

I now make the money she was coveting other men for.

I am going to give another woman the lifestyle she thought she was entitled to.

Oh what irony.

Well let's see. Tonight is girls' night out - Bunco at a friend/client's clubhouse. That's at 7:30. I am outta here at 6, DS is going to his father's, DD is at an away football game and will get a ride home with our friend's parents.

B and I are going out for dinner before I head over to Bunco.

Tomorrow, I'm working but leaving early at 3:30, at 4 there's a geocaching get-together just a couple of miles from here, B and I are going, bringing DS (picking him up at his dad's on the way through) and also picking up another kid from our neighbourhood so he can go with us. DD has a Saturday off from band obligations, she can come if she wants but thusfar she's indicated she just wants a quiet day at home (can't blame here there).

Sunday I have to work for 4 hours... but I'll probably squeeze something in in the morning or after work but it gets dark so much earlier these days it's hard to do anything outside after hours - there's always the morning before I go to work (I work at 1:00).

Never boring here anymore!

Tonight - STAY Home. Put away laundry, straightne the house.
Tomorrow, Girl scout event all day, onto a birthday party, then the grocery store
Sunday, church, and amusement park for Halloween fest.
Sunday night, drop into bed exhausted. Onto another week.

This weekend is the Southern Festival of Books so we are going......all three days, apparently.

Tomorrow night, we are going to see 'Samson & Delilah' - had to lobby hard to get s & d to agree to go to the opera. They didn't want to go because they'd heard the story a million times.....yeah, but the opera will have belly dancers.

I need a weekend after the weekend!

Did all that Friday night...dinner with B, then girls' night out - Bunco. I couldn't even win the biggest loser prize - we were in a 3 way tie and I lost that too! LOL!

Saturday we went to the geocaching event with DS and a boy from our neighbourhood.

Sunday, my XH's brother was in town, - he, the kids and XH went to dinner, I went to B's for dinner.

This morning at 6:40 I was out geocaching - a new hide was placed nearby last evening, and B called me and I emailed him when the listing went public (we both get email notification) - we were both too tired Sunday night to get it so we were up bright and early this morning to find it. I got there first and found it, and B came along as I was signing the log sheet. He went to work, I went home, then to work for a while (shop is closed Mondays but I have a bit of work to do).

B finished work by midday, as did I. He called me to see what I was doing (nothing) so he and I went gold panning for a few hours this afternoon! Found a few flakes in a local creek - water is way down, it's a terrible drought here. Had fun at it!

Home now, showered all the creek muck off, and waiting for DD to get home. XH's bro is still here til this evening - we'll figure out what to do for supper when DD gets home.

Tomorrow I don't have to work til 4 (other than check on the place in the morning) so I might go geocaching solo while B is at work... he's got more finds than me so perhaps I can narrow the gap a bit!
