That is such a fun book.

The Jack Daniel's Silver Cornet Band has a Twelve Days of Tennessee Christmas. I'll post that when I find it.

She's probably just vacationing in a part of the U.S. that has better climate and more interesting terrain. She is probably cross country skiing in the adirondacks, or some even nicer part of upstate New York

All joking aside..Mel is obviously had enough of dealing with trolls, enablers and apologists. So, instead of Mel, we get a few old-timers that couldn't possibly hold her can of AquaNet(see Mrs. W I learned!).

I would like to put out a plea for Mel to return to the boards and bring back some Texas style bluntness and experience combined in a way that is unique to her.

Mel....Hey, Yo..Mel! Come back! Between you being gone and Mrs. W being on vacation I feel lonely out here!

Mrs. W being on vacation

LOL! I'm here, kinda, just "down home" in Atlanta and spending time with my mom, my brother, and of course, Mr. W and our DD8...I just came to check in during a "Wii Break"...I have some "Wii Injuries" if you can believe it! This tells me that I am GRAVELY out of shape! So far I've pulled a hamstring while "Wii Bowling" and I also have a pretty painful case of "Wii Boogie Arm"! We are having tons of FUN though! I'll be around more after the holidays!

On a more serious note, it is true that Mel has chosen to leave...Selfishly, I pray that she changes her mind and this is just an extended and well deserved break...I feel very blessed that I still communicate with her in real life...I count her as one of my dearest friends...

Mel,

You've seen me through these last 9 months. And you were right on all the way through. Don't leave me now...

Surely you know how much you are needed and wanted here.

I sure am hoping to hear from you around here again! I'll be updating my thread in Jan. Would love to see you there.

Dang. That's what I was afraid of. I understand her frustration though. Heck, I've only been here a year and I've thought of going away because I just don't get the kid-gloves when it comes to KNOWN trolls and scalawags.

But you know what. MB is under attack because the enemy recognizes that it is a marvelous tool for restoring families. The enemy's number one goal is to destroy families. If he can do that, then he's got us all licked. But he uses the same old bag of tricks everywhere and it should be so obvious... nips and bites... in the form of troll and scalawags. He does the same thing in churches... nips and bites in the form of gossips, hypocrites, backbiters, etc.

I just wish MB would recognize it for what it is. HARM to those who truly want and need help. And now we're losing some of our best vets because of it.

In our rookieness, PM, we may not have seen the cycles like others have. It was said when JL 'left' that we must respect his choices to take a break (long or short) and he has been posting again occasionally....even as recently as last night. Helping others appears to be inherent for JL and he said he was touched by our farewell messages.

I agree with some of your points, PM but chose to think that our Veteran MB posters are above the control of trolls and our own bickering with each other. As I've noticed on the ancient ('seasoned' or as K called himself 'overbaked') MB Vets Reunion thread, this place is both perfume and poison, depending on one's perspective...and that POV changes often.

I took a break a week after I registered and nearly did not come back. I recently discovered that speculations about my reasons for taking a break caused a mini-furor over 10 months later. By the time I found out, (quite by accident I might add...and I don't even remember the thread now) it had blown over and the thread has since slid into oblivion...I think.

Mel helped me tremendously (even if she mis-gendered me) and I will always be grateful. I trust that she will be back because being helpful is inherent in her nature like JL's. But if not, that is her choice and I will respect it, even if it makes me sad.

Ace

P.S. Mel....are you helping Charlotte overbake those holiday goodies she mentioned before she disappeared? LOL

ML, you're back! Thought I'd bump this thread for you so you can read how hard some people tried to call you out while you were gone. Some of it's pretty funny.
