Top Rope, this one's for you!

And Mel, and Medc:

"Standing at the crossroads
Of what is, will be, and was
The obvious eludes us
Not because the zeroes line up
We should change our way of thought
More if we do not, the way ahead
Is dangerously fraught
And if we did the things we all know to be right
Left would be the childish fears
Of danger in the night.

We, each of us are fine
For we have all heard the word
But grouped together
Babel's triumph stampedes
The thoughtless herd
Nothing changes."

I wish you the best, 2long.

Yep! I grew up on Moody Blues and King Crimson. The late-60s through 70's stuff.

No, don't leave...I like having you around too much.

Just be more disciplined with your time....a feat I've yet to master...but I'm still working on it...I go other places and have a never ending supply of things and interests to look up or read up on...

My H got addicted to a forum of his own and I know how annoying it can be when we are both in other rooms on our computers. At the very least we should get another laptop. But better yet we need to get off the internet and get to more actively living life.

Than said, I respect whatever way you go with this current exit...or not.

My husband likes some of the same music as you...same era...he's a little older than you (and me).

LOL ol' 2long.

So happy I missed all the drama. I got a good chuckle from seeing this thread uupon my return, and then searching out your first adios thread...and then seeing your subsequent posts today. LOL Hotel California comes once again to mind.

Anyway, heard an awsome song that reminded me of the way you are always talking about pushing up daisies and such.

So this is for you, my very good friend, favorite spiritual athiest and almost favorite scientist!

It is from Grayson Capp's "Graveyard" song.

"I forgot to remember everything that I know, and now I'm lying in this graveyard and got no place to go"

Well it's a cool song that reminded me of you. And no, no crack in ol' Josey.

How's this, ark?

"Could we have kippers for breakfast
Mummy dear, Mummy dear
They got to have ´em in Texas
Cos everyone's a millionaire"

Problem is, I'd rather eat a salt lick...

What's a "salt lick"? I think I know what "kippers" are; some kind of fish?

solong2long thread

LMAO!!! He's already been drawn into yet another thread!!!

The "so long" remark reminded me of "So long, Frank Lloyd Wright", a nice offering from Simon and Garfunkle, another group of that musical era. Another few that come to mind are Procol Harem, Uriah Heep, Canned Heat, Country Joe McDonald, Yes, Kansas, and Blood, Sweat and Tears. Hmmmmmm...a trip down memory lane. :::edited to add Humble Pie, which I had to Google, cuz I couldn't remember the groups name, only the song. Dunno why my memory is so fuzzy from that era?

Like you ARKie, I'm waiting for the "real" solong2long thread ::::coming soon:::: no doubt!

Love ya, 2long!

A salt lick is a salt deposit that animals regularly lick.

"We are gathered here 2day 2 consign the mortal remains of [ol' solong2long]... or whatever his name really was. I ain't really got a whole lot 2 say about [ol' 2long] because he only rode amongst us [6 years] ago, and was promptly struck down by whatever deadly disease it was struck him down. We can only hope that whatever deadly disease it was, it wasn't particularly contagious. And with that in mind, I suggest we all bow our heads in devout prayer."

I hope James Blunt forgives me for changing his Lyrics:

"So Long, 2long"

I just can't believe that it's over.
We were chilling out on the sofa,
Digging how the guitar goes,
In a song that no one knows.
Did you lick that line yourself,
Or did the voodoo magic help?
Does everyone have a different take?
Do you seem real but I seem fake?
Does everyone get hypnotized by your fire?

So long, 2long, so long.
Though you only stayed a moment,
We all know that you're the one. Singing,
So long, 2long, so long.
Sure we're glad for the experience,
We miss you now you've gone.
We're just swimming in your soul 'cause,
We all wish we wrote this song.
Life goes on.

I'm just so relieved that it's over.
We were hanging out going nowhere,
Digging how the guitar goes,
In a song that no one knows.
Did you burn that bridge yourself,
Or did the voodoo magic help?
Does everyone have a different take?
Are you just cool and I'm just baked?
Does everyone get mesmerized by your fire?

So long, 2long, so long.
Though you only stayed a moment,
We all know that you're the one. Singing,
So long, 2long, so long.
Sure we're glad for the experience,
We miss you now you've gone.
We're just swimming in your soul 'cause,
We all wish we wrote this song.
Life goes on.

Hopefully, Gale Garnett doesn't read here either...

"We'll sing in the sunshine
We'll laugh every da-a-y
We'll sing in the sunshine
Then I'll be on my way
[basically I'm on my way 2 Australia]

I will never love you
The cost of love's 2 dear
But though I'll never love you
I'll stay with you one year
[that would make me a renter, I suppose]

And we can sing in the sunshine
We'll laugh every da-a-y
We'll sing in the sunshine
Then I'll be on my way
[no worries, it's only an EA]

I'll sing 2 you each mornin'
I'll kiss you every night
But darlin', don't cling 2 me
I'll soon be out of sight
[oops, guess that makes it a PA]

But we can sing in the sunshine
We'll laugh every da-a-y
We'll sing in the sunshine
Then I'll be on my way
[revisionist his2ry, perhaps?]

My daddy he once told me
"Hey, don't you love you any [wo]man"
"Just take what they may give you"
"And give but what you can"
[maybe even a freeloader]

"And you can sing in the sunshine"
"You'll laugh every da-a-y"
"You'll sing in the sunshine"
"Then be on your way"
["make sure you leave a plan B letter!"]

And when our year has ended
And I have gone away
You'll often speak about me
[what can I say?]
And this is what you'll say
[mind you, I'm not trying 2 control your posting style]

"We sang in the sunshine
"You know, we laughed every da-a-y"
"We sang in the sunshine"
"Then []he went away"
[NC is needed for recovery!]
