This comes from a blog that I read. I don't think it's legit to post the entire entry here..it's ON SWEAT PANTS.. I really mean to be talking about something far more important than my annoying personality. I want to talk about the sweat pants. Or what my favorite TV personality, the lovely Stacy London, calls "The Pajamafication of America". These women? These highly educated, formerly high-powered career women? They wear sweat pants IN PUBLIC. All the time.
Remember that episode of Seinfeld?
JERRY: (to George) Again with the sweat pants?
GEORGE: What? I'm comfortable.
JERRY: You know the message you're sending out to the world with these sweat pants? You're telling the world: "I give up. I can't compete in normal society. I'm miserable, so I might as well be comfortable." (George is baffled)
One of these women on Friday quizzed me about the skirt I was wearing, quite appropriately I think, to the playgroup party.
HER: "Why are you all dressed up, Amanda?" ME: "Why not?" HER: "You mean you normally wear skirts?" ME: "I prefer skirts to shorts. They're more flattering." HER: Baffled look.
And forgive me my bluntness here, personality and all, but if you feel like you've lost your identity? Perhaps, just maybe, just a teeny weeny suggestion, IT COULD BE BECAUSE YOU'VE GIVEN UP ON IT. At least that's the message you're sending out to the world with the sweat pants and the hair scrunchies and the velcro shoes and the no-makeup and the baggy t-shirts. You're saying "I'm not important anymore. I'm just some body's mother."
Don't get me wrong. I luuurve me some sweat pants. In fact, I'm sitting here in front of the computer wearing sweat pants myself right this minute. And a hoodie. And a hideous PLAID hair scrunchy. I'm a fashion NIGHTMARE. But here's the catch: I'd SHOOT MYSELF before I'd leave the house looking like this. Even if I'm just going to hang out at my mom's house or make a trip to Target, I make an effort to look nice. I pick out an actual outfit. I try. And it does WONDERS for my self image. Don't they always say you should dress for the job you want? Well the job I want is hot mama. And I plan to keep dressing the part, thankyouverymuch.
[Edited to add: Not ALL my mom peers wear sweat pants. Plenty of them dress just fine. In this particular case it was the SAME moms who were bitching about their lost identities who were sporting It's kinda what LG was talking about yesterday.."letting yourself go"(not saying that about you not2...thinking about myself)...a pet peeve of mind about myself...recalling my H's disgusted look when I used to wear sweatpants..and I didn't get it..I didn't get it...YUCK...

New to the Goddess Thread here.
I've been letting myself go, since husband decided he wanted a divorce - who wouldn't?
He has since been coming to his senses, and today, I put on Eyeliner. Something I have not done since the day he told me he wanted a D.
So I am proud of myself for that. I haven't got as far as the mascara yet, and I know that my hair will be needing a dye job very shortly, but hey. Baby steps.
And (gasp), I DID wear sweatpants to Walmart two weeks ago, with no make up, looked like ******, and won't do it again. LOL. But I needed cat food and was desperate

To beat the SWEATPANTS ADDICTION, do not have any available. Get rid of them!!
I even wear "OUTFITS" to the GYM...

Yea.....GG is a Goddess Goddess! Start with what you can handle. I can't do mascara at all.....even allergic to the non-allergenic type, but I make up for it.
Glad you're here, GG. Did you see my post? Sorry I' haven't checked yet, I got so excited to see you've ventured over here that I forgot.
Again, thanks Mimi for this haven in the midst of all the drama.

Good point mimi....of course, WS "stopped" in the use computer (which he could have done from work....I think he was spying on me...of course he was in sweats, but then again he was coming from the gym...and I could care less if he wears them) and of course "caught" me in my sweatpants....lesson learned.

I'm with Mimi, get rid of those sweats, even if they are nice. Personally, in my organizing and clearing mode, I gave away ALL of my clothes that didn't look stunning on me. Over the years, I'd accumulated different items that just looked so-so. So I spend about a half hour a day for a week trying things on, and eliminating many. Got rid of EVERYTHING in size 12 which was my bigger size. That gave me incentive to stick to my exercising and better eating program.
And you especially, Not2fun, need to look great ALL of the time since you never know when hubby will show up.
Good job on starting to get the house together. When it is done, you can just do the basic straightening up every day. I set a timer, and spend just 5 minutes in each room. Amazing what you can do in 5 minutes, and it only takes me a half hour to do the whole place.

Hey ladies,
I slept (albeit broken) until 9AM, then got up and started some light cleaning. PWC took DS to get a haircut and some gaming stuff for his PS2, as well as some steak, for din din. I'm going to see if I can swallow nice little bites (still tough to swallow).
I have now showered and the hair is KICKIN'! Put on some bronzer, to brighten up my face, and this great VS lipgloss, sort of peachy. I have been wearing these cute little PJ bottoms from VS, with this really nice (comfortable for us semi-bed bound) scoop neck tee that shows the beginnings of a shoulder. The neck scar isn't so pretty, but it hightlights my collar bones, with sleeves that cascade over the tops of my hands.
Since the surgery, I can't wear dangly jewelry or anything around my neck, so I put on some earrings of my mothers, that I inherited, little diamond earrings that look like daisies, white gold. With the short hair, they are very visible.
Feeling a bit run down after some of my morning cleaning (even light cleaning poops me out). I'm going to lay around for a bit before supper.
I ordered new side tables and a sofa table (to hold my TV and DVD, cable stuff), for the bedroom; it will help to comlete the look. They are a sleek, deep mohogany, nearly black, with modern lines. The room is small, so they will help to make it look less cluttery.
I can't wait until they arrive.
I'm going to do my toes now, because I was a bit too stiff to do them the other night.

Hey Y'all!!
I slept in, too. I was at my g'ma's for so long that I went to WN around 2am. I had to get supplies! I was still in "uniform" though. Ran into a truck driver all excited because he was restocking his supply in his truck!! Talked with him for a few. Man, it sure is great in there with no crowds and no line!
Nice to see so many "Handy Ma'ams" here! I'm one myself. Momma always said you can do anything you put your mind to (that's my mom, not Forrest Gump's, LOL!) so I've always practiced that. My mom used to be a carpenter, too, so I have a good teacher.
I don't know if it bothered Mr. Gray or not. I left "guy" things for him to do but how long can one stand a broken toilet, for instance? So I'd just jump in and do it. I left the kitchen sink for him to do for the longest time but he never did it. I still have to replace that faucet. And one handle is a "C" clamp! LOL! NOT a "Goddess Faucet" for sure!
But anyway, everything sounds great here! I'm so inspired!
WORLD, hear the ROAR of the WARRIOR GODDESSES!!!!!!
Take care,
Charlotte

Hey, I am very happy today. I took care of myself last night. I was in bed by 9 p.m. Got up before 6 and took d to work. Came home and went back to bed. Slept till almost 9. Considering I did not go to bed - or to sleep- at all on Thursday night, I deserved it. I even was nice to my x when he got here and asked him to help me w/ something.
I think I need to find my new sheets - 400 thread count Pima or Egyptian cotton, sateen finish.

Probably too early for everyone else in the country, but I planted spring flowers today. Went to Walmart and bought 20 sic packs of pansies. They were only $1.30 each so I ended up with 120 plants for $26.00. FINALLY got them all planted and they are lovely.
Now my home is fit for a goddess, inside and out.

house is coming...living area are in ok condition (I need to declutter and organize, but I can only do 1 thing at a time, DD10 room painted today, and I am working on the basement. Couldn't get down there to put xmas decorations away...so that is where I am beginning major decluttering)...
So Supreme GODDESS mimi and believer....when you clean you house and do yard work, what do you wear...since I threw my sweats away but yet I don't want to wear my new clothes and get them ruined????
I think I should be named GODDESS IN TRAINING.... you see I need to learn about the PA stuff. I am a pretty woman, but I HATE HATE HATE to shop, especially for clothes for myself. It was actually something my WS and I discussed last weekend (he said that was easy to fix, go buy clothes, but I hate to do that and I am not really a spender....)
hair...I am getting better at makeup....I can do it good, I just need to get it on everyday....
anything else I am missing.....

Why do you HATE to SHOP for clothes for yourself, not2? ------------------------------------------------------------ TODAY was DOMESTIC GODDESS shopping day for me...replenished the CANDLES..and bought a NEW QUILT SET for the BED..time for a CHANGE...

I wear levis and a cute top, and always have on earrings. I pull my hair into a knot at the back, but put a pretty ribbon or hair tie around it.
Sounds like you are making great strides on the house. Decluttering is very important, or you will just keep moving things from place to place. I like the minimalist look - and it is easy to keep.

Reasons why I don't like mascara....
Even when I put it on clean lashes and it says it stays put, I end up w/ raccoon eyes half way through the day.
The other day, I was putting on mascara w/ a small brush - it looked safe enough. And, unfortunately, I blinked - - - scratching my eye. It still hurts.

Hey believer...
I like the ribbon idea...of course, at 34 am I too old for that???
I think I hate shopping, because budget was always so tight for so long that I couldn;t buy anything anyways. I also do not have the best fashion sense....whenever I bought something in the past that I thought was cute, WS didn't think so. He on the other hand has better fashion sense than I do. He goes shopping with me, but sometimes he'll pick out things that he likes but doesn't look good on me (or so I think). I am a FIRM believer that if you don't feel like you look good, you don't look good (a confidence issue).
So there it is in a nut shell.....I know a GODDESS who hates to shop....teach me your wise ways fellow GODDESSES....
