39:20 well spent MEDC.

The interesting thing would be to hear some discussion of how folks are applying the teaching to their lives and their relationships, and here on MB as to how we apply God's perspective to others who have been hurt by adultery or the cause of the pain.

Thanks for the link.

I listened to it MEDC. I needed to hear that. I've heard it before,a long time ago, but it was good for me to hear it again.

Being humbled hurts sometimes. Casting stones and all that....

All of the forgiveness stuff from your other thread, the anger thread, Mulan's boundary thread, and listening to this sermon, have all been instrumental for helping me to push past the anger and rage that was eating me alive and keeping me stuck in the worst pain imaginable. I feel like I'm starting to move forward a little more now.

Thanks again MEDC.

Husband was unfaithful to me before and after our marriage, at least 7 times. I found out 13 yrs into the marriage. Trickle truth for an entire year. Several different d-days, so it was more like a d-year. Difficult recovery.

The sermon and the SCRIPTURE, IMO, state that TRUE FORGIVENESS comes from JESUS CHRIST..

We are to pray that the sinner seeks FORGIVENESS through a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with HIM...

We, as Christians, are taught to NOT be JUDGMENTAL and to leave it all in GOD'S HANDS...

I do not agree with this Mimi. I think we are taught to righteously judge others....to NOT be a hypocrite.

see John 7:24

I agree Mimi and that was so hard for me to do. I'm just now getting there.

Mopey, it is right to judge and we are commanded to do so. It just needs to be done in a righteous fashion.

MEDC, I agree that we shouldn't be hypocrites.

Will you tell me what you mean by righteously judging others?

Does it have anything to do with boundaries, or keeping our brothers in line with God's word?

I agree that I threw stones, and not in a righteous fashion.

And for that, I need to ask for forgiveness.

Mopey,

I would suggest that you read the reference to John above. An internet search of "judging & Christian" will lead you to thousands of sites that will help you with this topic.

Imagine what the world would be like if we were not able to judge behaviors. Anything would go! In fact, that is one of the main reasons that we have abortions (and those that support it), sexual immorality and so many other sins running rampant. People are afraid to call their neighbor on their terrible behaviors. People put away their morals when they vote, pick friends...etc.

Be very careful with this VERY liberal mindset that we shouldn't judge. I think the point that was being made int he sermon was that the hypocrites that brought this woman to Jesus were in fact living very sinful lives and really were not trying to help this person...they were condemning her. They didn't follow the thoughts of hating the sin and loving the sinner...they did nothing to bring her up...in fact they used her as a tool to mock the Lord and to inflate their own importance.

I AGREE that when someone does WRONG that WE should CALL THEM on it.

So, I guess I don't mean that we should not be JUDGMENTAL...

I was in error.

Thanks MEDC. I agree with what you said. It's just all in how you say it I believe.

I will also look up that scripture.

mopey - it has to do with being discerning of the truth versus falsehood, that we often call "judging." That word "judging" is most often interpreted with a negative connotation, but it's not always that way.

The basic biblical teaching on the subject is that we are not to "judge" unbelievers but we are to "judge" those who claim the name of Christ for themselves.

The primary reference for this, if you'd like to look it up, is 1 Cor. 5:9-13.

The key thing to remember is that the purpose of judging in this context is not punishment, it is to hopefully achieve conviction, repentance, and restoration.

Thank you for sharing the link, MEDC. It was a very good sermon... made me laugh and cry. Such a vital message for all of us to hear and understand.
