Apparently the junior Jesse Jackson Jr. is in some hot water as well.

Well, we now know what to expect out of the Prezident elect.

The dems have brought their position to a new low. First it's blatant election fraud with Al Franken and now this comes to light.

Maybe Al can pony up enough cash to outright buy himself a seat.

We usually wait until they leave office to arrest and imprison our governors, but in Rod's case we decided to make an exception because of his popularity with most folks.

What I find hysterical in all of this is that Gov Rod KNEW that he was under investigation and even joked about being recorded. Then he blatantly said some of the things he did to someone he suspected of taping him...

Blaggo got his start in Chicago's 1st Ward working for "Fast Eddie" Vrdolyak. Politics in Chicago has always been a case of muscle, payoffs and influence peddling and Vrdolyak was one of the best at it under the current mayor's father.

In reading through the indictment I am struck by the fact that as filthy as the act he is accused of doing really is, the language that he uses on a regular basis is even worse. And to make it even more amazing, his wife, who is herself the daughter of powerful influence broker Richard (can't use his nickname because the PC filter blocks it ) Mell uses the same kind of language. What are their children learning?

What makes all of this really scary is that this really does seem to be politics as usual around these parts and this environment is the place where our president elect got his start.

Funny that folks who were trying to get close to the Governor last week in order to influence his appointment of a replacement for Obama, can't get far enough away from him this week. In this case, "Deputy Dan" (Gov Rod) has no friends..."

Too funny from someone who was elected because he promised to clean up corruption and "business as usual" in state government.

You could never make this stuff into a movie; it is too unbelievable.

Tongue in cheek, I hope. His popularity was a measly 17% before this even came out.

It used to be democrats have sex scandals and republicans have money scandals.

But democrats appear to be working on cornering both markets lately.

He announced back in August that because of budget cuts he was ordering IDNR to close 11 state parks, 12 state historic sites, reducing the hours open on a bunch more historic sites and laying off a bunch of state workers, most for DCFS where the average worker now has 4 to 5 times the work-load recommended.

One of the parks he planned to close has a boat ramp that was paid for by the federal government under condition that public access for fishing be maintained. For the past two or three weeks he's been trying to figure out how to close the park and keep the boat ramp open...

Some of the historic sites slated to be closed include a bunch of the Lincoln sites as we head into the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth with celebrations planned in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky as well as Washington DC. So in celebration, Rod figured closing the Lincoln Log Cabin site might be a good idea as well as cutting the Lincoln Tomb down to 5 days per week instead of 7. Have to cut out OT and all that. So we'll keep it open Monday - Friday and close it on the weekends when the kids are out of school and tourists might be in Springfield for the weekend.

The best part of his cutbacks was that most of the law-makers in Springfield found out about them when they read about them in the newspapers or were asked for comment by reporters. Even the head of IDNR first comment seemed to be "Huh?"

One thing he found money for in the budget was his flying back and forth from Springfield where the Governor has a mansion to live in at taxpayer's expense, to Chicago where his home is and where police have to set up a security perimeter in order to maintain security for him. He did this nearly every night and would sometimes go several days without going to his office in Springfield, opting instead to spend the day at an office he had built in the state office building in downtown Chicago.

His trips back and forth included a helicopter, limo at both ends, security detail at both ends, etc.

He reportedly told Lt Gov Pat Quinn (the guy who will probably take over if Rod goes to jail or resigns or is impeached) that he had a do nothing dead end job and should stay out of the way. This was long before any wire tapping took place and was well before Obama was elected so had nothing to do with this current stuff.

Yes, in Illinois we have the best government money can buy...

The previous but one CEO of the very large corporation I work for used the corporate jet twice a month to fly back to his hometown to get, wait for it, a haircut.

He was fired, keeping his golden parachute BTW; but not for that. He was fired because one of his OW was a direct report and she sued the company after he dumped her for yet another OW. Board of directors must have thought it made the company look bad, or maybe they wanted OW for themselves. I don’t know. She was quite the fugly troll though, so I still can’t figure that one out.

The silver lining in this sordid story is CEO’s third BW sued him for everything and then some in the divorce. It’s been several years and the proceedings still make the local papers on occasion.

Oh, and this gem of an MBA is the CEO right after the CEO who was on his sixth, count ‘em, six, wife - each of these wives having been harvested over the years from among the wives of male execs that reported to his central staff.

And silly me. For a so long a time I was so confused about my wife’s mainly on company time VLTA with a co-executive.
