A guitar that was a gift to both my brother and myself. I never played it, neither did my bro, but he did rescue it from the trash bin at mother's and my son learned to play on it. So it took a very long time for it to be a good present, but it was The Greatest Gift after all.
Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. Second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience. (Oscar Wilde)

A pink slip, with a severance package.
I am spending this week closing down my office as part of my severance contract. I had to give up my Christmas vacation to do it, but come January 1st I am free!
20 years in this office and now they are finally freeing me.
I'll be in Savannah actually living with GB for the first time since we got married a year and a half ago.
WOOOOOHOOOOOO!
I am probably the only person in the world who considers losing my job a gift. But sometimes someone else has to come in and rip the roots out from under you to get you moving.
This might even be better than Leo the Lion...naw. He was the best.
Not going to go on and on about the drum set I never got like I usually do on Pep's Chistmas gift threads.

christmas eve, 2 days nights ago, my two boys, wife, and I all snuggled on the couch and watched Ice Age 2: the meltdown. It was magnificent.

Seeing the amount of joy my dad got from watching my DS5 and DS1 open their presents at our house on Christmas Eve. This may be his last one, and even though he was confused, I know that on some level he understood that everyone was together for the holidays.

I've wanted an iPod Classic for years, but never got around to buying one... and my wife likes her gifts to be surprises, so she never got me one.
This year, she was hinting she wanted one for herself... so I got her one. She was pretty happy when she got it.
I was very surprised when I got to my very last present... she'd gotten me the exact same model of iPod!

My wife and I bought each other some small stuff, but we got to watch our 7 y.o. son nearly cry tears of happiness when he opened his Xbox 360 and the games to go with it. We were struggling financially, as usual, and convinced him that Christmas wouldn't be as good as in recent years. His reaction was all I needed for Christmas. Well, I might get some enjoyment out of his gift as well.

I remember Mrs. Beasley, too! Yep, Buffy's doll.
How about Chatty Cathy and Mary Poppins? I had those two.
Faith, that is a really good idea with the on going Musical tickets, and one on one time.
This year gifts were sparse at our house because I am trying to get away from the mega gift Christmas thing. And next year will be even less. More focus on things that last, like memories, decorating, baking, sending out cards, etc.
My most memorable Christmas was junior high in Utah, where my seventh grade choir performed down in the park, and the church youth group I belonged to went door to door caroling.

Best Christmas present is hard. I love the sweater, driving mocs and gloves Mike had gotten me. Sometimes I wonder why I'm using them since they are the last presents he'll ever give me. But, then, I can hear his voice saying "I want you to use them."
All in all, I think my best Christmas present this year is Christmas. If it hadn't been for Christmas and Easter, I would never make it through. Knowing Mike is waiting for me makes all the difference. Thank you, God.

Hmmm, I don't know about "best", but I'd say Mr. W certainly got one of the FUNNIEST this year... In my family we do a "white elephant" gag gift exchange...Mr. W selected my mom's "gift"...*snicker* Which was... Maxipad Slippers!!! 2 pairs - one "everyday" pair and one "Christmas" pair! HA! The gift came with a descriptive sheet which said: Pad About Slippers * Soft and Hygienic * Non-slip grip strips on the soles * Built in deodorant feature * Keeps feet smelling fresh * No more bending over to mop up spills * Disposable and biodegradable. Environmentally safe * Three convenient sizes: Regular, Light day and Get out the Sand Bags Here is a sample pic of the lovely footwear~~~> Mr. W's Slippers It was a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS at our house!
