Here's a nomination......

Chances Are (Stillman/Allen)

Chances are 'cause I wear a silly grin
The moment you come into view,
Chances are you think that I'm in love with you.
Just because my composure sort of slips
The moment that your lips meet mine,
Chances are you think my heart's your Valentine.

Bridge:

In the magic of moonlight,
When I sigh, "Hold me close, dear,"
Chances are you believe the stars
That fill the skies are in my eyes.

Guess you feel you'll always be
The one and only one for me
And, if you think you could,
Well, chances are your chances are awfully good.

(Instrumental interlude and pick up at the bridge.)

In the magic of moonlight,
When I sigh, "Hold me close, dear,"
Chances are you believe the stars
That fill the skies are in my eyes.

Guess you feel you'll always be
The one and only one for me
And, if you think you could,
Well, chances are your chances are awfully good.

OK, my turn:

L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore and

Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you

(trumpet instrumental)

L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore

Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you
Love was made for me and you
Love was made for me and you

Songwriters: Milt Gabler & Bert Kaempfert
Artist: Nat King Cole

Bill Withers : Lovely Day Lyrics

When I wake up in the morning, love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
And something without warning, love
Bears heavy on my mind

Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
... lovely day, lovely day, lovely day ...

When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way

Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day.....

When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way

Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day...

You could get a recording of Nat King Cole singing the phone book and I would think it was absolutely beautiful.

I will look all these up. Thank you.

I am very well read, but musically I am afraid I am a dyed in the wool metal head and the most romantic thing I can come up with is the Titanic song (overplayed) and "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica. smile

Well you shoulda said that right upfront then smile . You can always listen to GNR's 14 years if you are in a cranky mood, or Scorpions' Send Me an Angel if you are not smile .

You can dance to Metallica?

Your original question asked for love songs one could dance to...

Allways and forever--- A British group called Heatwave wrote this tune but many of us will remember Luther Vandross's version.

Always and forever
Each moment with you
Is just like a dream to me
That somehow came true, yeah

And I know tomorrow
Will still be the same
Cuz we got a life of love
That won't ever change and

[1] - Everyday love me your own special way
Melt all my heart away with a smile
Take time to tell me you really care
And we'll share tomorrow together
Ooh baby, I'll always love you forever

Ever, ever, ever
There'll always be sunshine
When I look at you
It's something I can't explain
Just the things that you do
If you get lonely
Call me and take
A second to give to me
That magic you make and

[Repeat 1]

[Ad lib until fade]

Just the first one that pops in mind.

Personally, I think 'Unchained Melody' and 'Tonight I Celebrate My Love' are probably the most beautiful songs I've ever heard

You can dance to Metallica, in a spasmic sort of way, but that's the point. NOT good valentines fair. Hence the question...

AND I have noticed it's on two forums. Don't know how I did that.....

Considering wxh and I got married on Valentine's day, I might dance to this. I actually like the swing to this version.

I think the women of the world owe Chubby Checker a great debt of gratitude. Thanks to him, we can hit the dance floor without a partner.

Maybe this one....

Oh dear, sorting, I didn't mean to sound so cross. I thought I was being funny. I must use smilies more! grin

I see from what you have written that Luther Vandross must have recorded a version of this. I have never heard it! We have radio stations here that play endless "mellow" music, and they always play the Heatwave version. I suppose your stations favour Luther's.

He is a beautiful singer. I must listen out for that one.

My favourite "wait until we're alone" song is Bachrach and David's The Look of Love. Dionne Warwick and Dusty Springfield both recorded it, and I like both.

Actually its words would be perfect for a newlywed couple's first dance at the wedding reception. It speaks of waiting, finding and never letting go.
