If you can get the ISP from the fake email and compare it with the ISP of a KNOWN email from the OW, would they be the same? Maybe some of the IT folks on here could tell you.

I believe that you can look up the ISP online.

I cannot help you unless you tell me some things.

What email client do you use? By that I mean do you use Pegasus, Yahoo, Gmail, Outlook or Outlook express. Tell me which one and I will tell you how to see the complete header. Many times a complete header will tell someone who knows how to look the origin of the person who sent the mail, at least in terms of location.

Larry, we use ********. Thing is, the email she sent to him we deleted it, and we deleted it from the trash. So all we have is the email I sent back to her.

Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

What email client do YOU use. Outlook Express is the most common. I will go into details once I know that.

Larry, not that good with the computer language. When you asked about what email client I use, I thought you were talking about like Yahoo, hotmail. Can you tell me how I find out who is my "email client".

Better delete her email addy ASAP. If she was to google it, it would lead her straight to this thread.

I could care less about how she feels about anything. It's a fake email address, and I believe that she has already deleted it. She has pretty much exhausted all of the sneaky ways for her to reach him. I think I have all the bases covered now. If anyone can think of something else, please let me know.

An email client is the program you use to read your emails and it is probably Outlook Express if you use windows. When you go to read your email, what program comes up? Or do you read your emails online using Internet Explorer.

Ok, got it. Bellsouth IE interface. There is a way to get a header WHEN you have a message to open.

Open the message for which the email headers are needed.
Once opened, click the View Source link.
The email headers will be displayed in the email window.

The header will look something like this (further comments below the gobble [censored]):

Lots of tech stuff. And obviously headers are not displayed
because they would just confuse people.

Since you have deleted the message and removed from recycle
bin, look to see if you have a deleted message folder, it
might be there. If not, wait until another one appears and
don't delete it until after you get through with the
investigation.

I am not going to try to educate you how to use a header to
POSSIBLY track someone down. It is possible, but not all the
time. Just ding me online then send the header that looks
sorta like the one above that you copy after following the
ATT instructions.

I will see what I can do to track it down.

You don't get rid of it because it is the google memory and yahoo and msn. Look at the who's on line thing in the right menu here and you will see a list for spiders. That is the search engines updating pages. When they update, they will pick up the change and her email address will disappear. That can take months and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. No reset button.
