I am assuming this is a line from a song, and that I don't get it. But maybe in this case ignorance is bliss, because, my mind sometimes thinks from a gutter perspective, and thus, I will believe that it is some esoteric phrase from a popular song.

Don't tell me,(Picture CP running with his fingers in his ears, yelling "Nyah Nyah Nyah Nyah, around the room) its not what I first pictured in my mind, and I am sorry if my fertile imagination has offended anyone, including Snoop Dog, who wrote and performs,"Pimpin ain't easy",(One of the funniest songs in my opinion BTW)

OK. I'll pass on the slap. stickout

The Father's Day sermon was titled:

Fight Like A Real Man

..... Get on your knees and pray.

It was clearly aimed square at men standing up and being MEN.
Not "milksop".
The point being that a Christian Man is a warrior. A fighter.
He referenced a book I once discussed on a MB thread
Wild At Heart - by John Eldredge.
LINK to old MB thread.

The paster showed a brief clip from RockyII .... where he is running/training and little by little the kids start following him through the streets, right up the steps where they are are joyous together.

What does a real Christian man fight for?
One of the things worth fighting for is his wife.

Everyone knows what Eve's sin was.
It's obvious.
What was Adam's sin?
He was standing with Eve.
He knew what Eve was about to do was forbidden.
He allowed her to sin.
Adam's sin is that he failed to protect his wife.

This was sort of an "a-ha" moment for me.
Your thoughts?

I think there was a poem written about that "Eve's Apology in Defense of Women."

"What weakness took, strength might have refused."

I think it was saying what you just were, Pep, that Adam should have protected Eve.

I like it Pep. I remember another Sermon where our Pastor pointed out how Adam pointed at Eve when they were asked by God why they ate the apple, and said,"It was this woman you gave me" Trying to lay the blame back at God.

Another time he said, "I don't know why men are acting so surprised and having issues with thier wives, they knew who she was when they married her"

More food for thought he said, "Men have problems with authority, and women have problems with loyalty" I am still thhinking that one over and correlating it with what I know about men and womens nature.

One time, after me and W were back together, going to church, and alcohol was comepletly out of the picture,(Good for me pretty much hated the stupid juice anyways), I told her I was having problems with how I had entered into sin with her by us sleeping together, and allowed the bar cruzing to be so important in the begining of our relationship. Her answer was..now note this.."Why do you think Adam fell into Sin with Eve? It was because he loved her"

Now the discussion can be opened, why did Adam feel so compleled to enter into sin? What power did Eve have over him, or he allowed?

Explained in nature it is pretty simple. Eve was able to understand and carry the power of relationship better than Adam, in that her brain was wired differently than his. Adam picked up on that, and desired relationship with her above the relationship he had with God.

Remember that this was the tree of "Knowledge of good and evil", so now we would judge and compare, and the Law as it were would come into existance. God had protected us from this because we did not know what was good or bad, or had shame. When he saw them with fig leaves and ashamed, he knew. They gave it away, they were hiding.

So where does it fit in that in most Patriarchal systems that Men are supposed to be the "spiritual leaders" in the home? I have a sorta thoery about that, and it makes sense to me at least. Because men do not have the emotional connections to just about everything like women do, naturally, enviroment being such an important thing in safety of children and the home, they are more able to think outside of those things. Sometimes we are called to hard amd controlling and sticks in the mud, but we respond better to stimuli that addresses our need for reason, respect for truth, and hopefully for authority of love, as we are taught.

As we all learn and know, love is not a feeling, but feelings follow after the appropiate actions, that bring about safety, that make sense. Not having what a women has in the "everything is related" department emotionally, they are forced to reason, make drastic changes, and seem to be able to do this in almost a numb to others way. " The soil of a mans heart is stonier" ( First time I heard that was from Fred Gwinne in Pet semetary, lol), is true because it takes a lot to change a mans heart, it is not ussually on the surface, and tends to be hard, set it its ways. So by being so numb to what effect women so often internally and emotionally, they needing relationship just like they do, seek outside of themselves,(Hopefully), for the definition of love.

Yes it is gloriuos to us to find the love of a woman, us men feel valid, worth something, but it should not be our only source, the same goes for the women. But women seem maybe by nature also, to be able to find peace being alone. Maybe nature made it that was because women carry with them the atmosphere of being self reliant, enviromentally conscious, for the children. But us men want that ability also, and the magic they seem to have, even at the expense of doing what is wrong before God to have it. Its been said here and other places, and its true. If you come home and wife is happy, your happy. It can seem like thats all you need to us men sometimes, but of course its not.

To quote a joke from my first wife, and see beyond its obvious sexual implications, "A good man is hard to find, but a hard man is good to find also"

But why make the biggest and strongest the "spiritual leader"? If a man trancends his ego, learns that love comes from above, is an expression of serving what is really important, and has a heart for others, well thats a real man, and I want that as my protection. The strongest, just like God, who reaches down to pull me out of the ditch when I fall, again Gods nature, and will give his life in the name of love for me because he values love above all else, even his breath.

Well thats my theory, I am not more important than that objective love, that love that will protect others when I am not around someday, that I can give away freely ,and I mean freely, to my children as I reason without feelings and teach them to fish, instead to seek food from others. Men were forced to independent in nature, and to look up for relationship with something larger than life itself.

I wish Adam And Eve would come here and post though. I guess they do in the nature of Men and Women that we all have, but I would love to see their ENQs. (sorry had to slip that one in)

So why don't men protect thier wives more? Yes I can see its because they are weak and emotionally attached. My guess is that Adam was lonely, and Eve represented relationship in her awesome complex mind that he did not have, and he wanted into her world. Her point of view, her tenderness that came naturally, a place to hide. I think it is a scene lived over and over in real life as we recognize how our emotions would like to rule us, and we would love to to give into them, but are forced to reason and practicality as we deal with the real world full of all kinds of danger outside us and within in our tempataions.

More next post on how dependancy can turn into heavy denial issues if you don't really "listen" to instruction from God. We are alone with our conscince for a reason.

Also, women can be cruel and vicious. Nothing frightens a man more than doing something to bring out the viscousness in the woman he loves.

Sometimes though men just don't care because they have to draw a line to protect Thier interests
I guess you could say, those men dont love thier wives , but it just may mean they don't need them to love them back

It's sad but a lot of marriages go down because of that too.

You appreciate weird or funny? Lol

A christian friend of mine said this morning Adam was a representation of the first Christ, and he inessence gave his life so he could be with eve after she fell Again the "because he loved her" thing

But as we know love is best done in objective action right? So where does desire fit into that? What kind of "lurve" ignores the danger of death? Adam was right there with Eve when the serpent spoke to her, but he let her make up her own mind. He wasn't her master he let her do what she wanted , free will and all. The same with us as God does because we are free to love Him by choice. Adam wanted the same I suspect.

If we take out my previous natural argument about adam desiring to meld with the soul and mind of Eve. We are left with the desire to be wanted just as we are. Free will and acceptance. The statement that sticks out to me is. How can the gift of love be a gift if it is forced? If we make someone love us because they will suffer dire consequences if they don't then we are in control and it's not really a gift, it's ransom, blackmail, extortion

I like this saying" Man is the head of the household but Woman is the neck that turns the head"

It seems we are sometimes trying to intelecualize the natural when we try to figure out the Adam/Eve. Man/Woman thing. Even the Bible says it is one of those things beyond understanding. "the way of a serpent on a rock,(something else I forget,)and a man with a maid"

I agree women can be cruel and vicious, been there, but I think it was God and natures way to protect them and give them some manner of control with us big brutes. It's a sad thing when they abuse that power, just like men do also and don't appreciate each others differences and roles

But that's what this site is all about right? To get people to plan ? "People don't plan to fail they fail to plan"
Where there is a will there is a way
Just how is our will broken and to what do we giveit?

I guess this works the best if men are given all the authority, and held responsible for the women. In a dog eat dog kill or be killed world where we do what the strongest says or else, then I think it could fly but in a world where both are held equally accountable for both, (as it should be), both sexes have problems in those areas.

I am sure we all have heard about the poor little wench who puts all her happiness in her Husbands hands, and then blames him when she wasn't happy all the time, he was stupid enough to believe her lies, and God must have have ordained that she fall in love with another man and have the affair, or spend all the savings, because her feelings told her it was right.

The same crap can be said of men.

Because God is no respecter of persons, and does not value the soul of men above women, and uses both sexes powerfully in this world, we must believe both can be expected to bring thier heart and mind before Him.

You know, King Solomon comes to mind with that "Men have problems with authority, and women have problems with loyalty."

My coworker's father is constantly trying to preach to me... though his brand of things is... oh, I don't know... "How to quote Jesus and be a Jerk" or something.

Anyway, he was talking about his ex wife, and how he divorced her when she refused to stop chatting with other men online.

He said "Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines, and he couldn't find a single one among them that was loyal."

I kind of shrugged... but he added "And then, he questioned 1000 men, and only found ONE among them who was loyal."

Hmmm. well, I guess we have that 1/1000 historical advantage. Is that like being the most honest liar?

Its funny HHH, Solomon was warned as a young man not to take wives from another land and religion, but he did not heed the warning.

They say that towards the end of his life he had been so influenced by the other religions through his wives, that he lost much of his wisdom.

I can say that most of us men know what they believe in when we are young, and whether we are capable of learning and responding to common sense values or not, influences how we mature. There is no real magic in that, doesn't require any kind of special gift, and I believe God is in the simple and practical things in life, but we humans complicate things to the point where we can't even appreciate them any more.

Maybe it is the lesson from when Eve ate the apple, that we believed there must be more, so we judge value and reject what sometimes is the most important things God gave us. Its no secret that its us that screws things up, and all through History there have been people who will take advantage of our screw ups and shame to subjectate us. IMHO God will deal with them also, and in thier folly and desire to condemn others, has allready turned that judgement back upon them, as cruely as they judge the other human screw-ups. In making God unreachable to others and telling them they are unholy and they must follow an impossible task to achieve his love and care, they also move that much farther away from the connection we all can have with him.

Many make him so unreachable they they never have to make good on the promises they make, say if you come to thier church, give them a high place of honor, and support thier particular brand of worship. I think of them like the con-man side show guy in the Wizard of OZ, when he sent Dorothy to do the impossible task, bring back the witchs broomstick, before he would grant her wish. Like all the blessings God has given us, we allready have the power inside us to tap into our greatest needs and concerns.

So what happens when we ,"Lose our religion" so to speak. That belief system that we have worked out as the most important needs in our life, as we attempt to bond with a soul-mate, and fill thiers also.

Well in solomons case I can't say, but to win favor from the king when in competion with so many others, to produce and offspring that would also give you favor, I imagine there was no holds barred, and he was enticed by many new and improved appearing ways to reach God in his imagination and understanding, along with femine wiles. If he had so many wives, he must have liked women and sex, most of us can put those two together. Heck if he didn't like women and sex, I doubt we would be calling him wise.

But with us modern day people, we are also constantly looking for upgrades. Life must improve or we are doing something wrong, and the heady dreams of new couples living in a world where they are constantly comparing themselves to the jones or the karasians or to the characters on dallas,(old school I know), is a recipe for unhappiness, if thats what your all about.

IF your concern is for the person you married, and are grounded in life, and suffer the disappointments together and realize what is valuable you allready have, you are miles ahead of the rest, who still don't believe that you can't take it with you when you die.

All the vain trappings and fame in life can take us away from what is really valuable, our inner peace and convictions that make us who we are. If like Solomon, we marry into cultures and religions from different countries seeking new beliefs that made us who we were allready, or say, marry for other reasons beside mutual care of someone we allready know is going to change, but are willing to be solidly on the same page with what we find most important in life. It is bound to change us and draw us apart without constant honest communication, yes with conflict, but that expected and nessesary for growth. Its the journey we chose, and we agreed we would be willing to do it up front, right?

Aha, we said it, but now are we able to do it, now that things didn't turn out the way we planned?

There is a scripture in Isiah I think that goes like this, "The human heart is desperatly wicked, who can know it?" Then there is the time God instructed Moses to place hi hand upon his own heart, take it away and look at it. It was covered with disease. Then he told him to place it again upon his heart, and when he took it away and looked at it his hand was clean.

This was supposed to be how God can clean up the human heart, and I think we can agree it IS desparatly wicked, and no man can know the depths of twisted depravity it can reach, or how far it will go in hurting others and find justification for doing so.

In the case of waywards they destroy themselves and attempt to blame everyone else for it, and we on MB are saying, to the BSs, "you must put on the oxygen mask first for yourself, if you hope to save them, and listen to the master swimmers and lifesavers, because the will pull you down while they are drowning, especially because they just gutpunched you."

God Bless the person who can stand alone with a higher standard of life and not waiver, God must live in thier conscience, because they must beleive that life is to good to sell out to fear.

Thats what I believe God wants most of all for us, to live without fear.
