Many people have Admiration as one of their top three ENs. Your spouse may have different top three ENs. Some ENs have to be on both sides (Conversation, Affection etc) and some can be one sided (Admiration, Financial support etc)

Would you like to tell us your story and then we might be better able to advise you.

By SO, do you mean significant other?

As in you aren't married?

Dating is an interview for marriage. If the interviewee isnt doing a good job of needs-meeting, they really shouldnt get the job.

Be honest about how important it is to you and say you arent willing to settle for a life without admiration for the things you do well.

Explain that complaints must be phrased respectfully and that if you address those complaints well, you would like to be complimented in return.

But some people just arent interested in that and there is no reason why they should be. They may be looking for someone who does not have a high admiration need. There is no need to work very hard on a relationship when you are only dating.

You're welcome. The book Buyers, Renters and Freeloaders by Dr. Harley is excellent.
