....is through his stomach, so they say. My WH had a craving for a good old British High Tea on Sunday, unfortunately he couldn't find any fruit cake, or scones.
So...in good Plan A tradition, I've been baking like mad today, I now have fruit cake, scones (with whipped cream and jam, of course), and banana bread. Just need to make some cucumber sandwiches and get a pot of tea brewing now!
I just e-mailed him to invite him to join us, and his reply arrived just a couple of minutes later - YES PLEASE !!!!!
Paint [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

This post is very similiar to a telephone conversation that I had with my WH this evening. If you haven't read any of my posts, I'll make a long story short by stating that my H is incarcerated out of state and we've not seen each other for nearly two years. We talk on the phone as often as my budget will allow and we write letters back and forth. He finally came clean with me concerning a long-term A that he had with a tenant of ours. In fact, he is presently incarcerated due to the illegal activities involving drugs that he and the OW were involved in. A final word is that he is VERY adamant about putting our marriage back on track.
Anyway....to put it mildly, the food that he receives on a daily basis from the DOC is terrible. He's a farm boy who is use to eating good....be it fresh veggies or lean steaks. I asked what he'd like for me to prepare for him as his "first" meal home and I blurted out "Shrimp Fra Diablo" at the same time that he did. We often think alike!! He also requested an Italian salad with lots of fresh grated Parmasean (sp?) cheese and Hot Garlic Bread. This is a meal that I can whip up with confidence.
He's always loved my cooking and misses it sooooooo much. I can't wait until I can cook for him again. I'll fatten him up so much that he won't be able to move from the dining room chair to even consider the OW.

------------------
Time heals all wounds as long as you DON'T pick at them!

I could use a little tea and sympathy right now.
But tea and scones or crumpets would do just fine.
CryingInCali

Cali - You sound as though you need a big hug tonight -
(((((((((((((((((((((((((cali))))))))))))))))))))))))). Ever had crumpets with Marmite on? super-yummy comfort food (if you like marmite that is...).
Everyone else - It went OK, but WH was obviously 'down' again - just lay on the settee and stared at the ceiling. We couldn't really talk 'cos the kids were still up [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] so he left quite early - but he loved the cake and called me later to chat about some new CD's he'd bought, so although it could have been better, it was OK.
Best wishes, Paint

Paint,
You really think it is through his stomach? In the beginning of our relationship, I used to think so also, but now I think that the way to my H's heart is through his EGO!

OK, ladies, what's the "way" to a woman's heart? Nothing's working, so I need some fresh ideas.
BTW Paint, please post me any leftovers. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
WAT

The way to a woman's heart is a muchmore complex answer. I'm afraid of offending anyone but women are not such simple creatures as men can be. Make a fabulous meal and you'll have the heart of almost every man in the area. Women, that's a little tougher.
We do have weakness though, we are almost all hopeless secret romantics. We get all gooey over romantic poetry, flowers, intellectual stimulating converstaions, holding hands, a stroke on the cheek, a baby's kiss, stuff like that. LOL, I am reminded that we have a romantic novelist here among us- see Carolina Belle in recovery for ideas!! If you want to see ideas that will melt a woman read a romance novel!!

WAT, the way to a woman's heart CAN be very simple too. Remember a time when things were good, when you were together and you knew her love for you was not fogged. Did you take her anyplace special, a restaurant, a trip, a date that she said she loved with you. How about a little token from that date or something from her childhood that she may have mentioned to you, to show that you remember too! It could be anything like any candy or toy that she talked about w/fondness, anything that she mentioned she loves or use to love as a child! Showing that you remember and that u ACTUALLY LISTENED to something she said she loves will win BIG POINTS w/her. It maybe something trivial or cheap to most but to her it was something that she likes. REMEMBER: IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MEAN SO MUCH!! [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

The way to a woman's heart... yes, the 'little things' The cheery e-mail or phone call out of the blue, picking a daisy and putting it in her hair when you're out for a walk, (even pinching her butt when she's loading the dishwasher !!). You could buy me all the diamonds in the world - but that daisy tucked behind my ear would be the most memorable.....(no-ones ever done that to me before though [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] ).
I've gone all mushy now...
Paint [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]

i think you are a much stronger person than i could ever hope to be. i really admire the way you are single handedly trying to save your marriage. i could not deal with the fact that my husband was still wanting to be with the OW. i would give up and say fine, you can have her then. when your marriage works, it will be your victory. i am proud of you wish i could be more like you. good things will definitely come your way one of these days.
hats off to you and the others trying to do it alone.
good luck and maybe i will try the tea thing sometime.
hugs and kisses, bluegirl [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
