Can someone help me with a question? I was looking in my history and saw a teenage porn site (very sick) Anyways could that have been a pop up that went into my history while surffing the web? It was addressed to our e-mail in the subject line. Cathy

I don't know, but I don't think so. You'd have to open the pop-up, to have it 'show up' , in the history.

The next time I get 'pop ups' I'll check it out, and see if they show up in the history.

Take care,

I use yahoo mail. Sometime last summer (I think) I was told to uncheck a box after yahoo made some kind of changes or something. As you can see, I really don't know what I'm talking about LOL--and I didn't uncheck the box--and I get those too. I just delete them. I have heard that others are getting these too.

Well, I just went to a website I look at that contains song lyrics. During my first 30 seconds there, two pop-ups came up--regarding awards I'd 'won', and a job opportunity for me.

They didn't show up in the history, at all--as I didn't open them up. I closed them.

I hope that answers your question.

Oops--sorry about that. I just realized that it's in your history, not being sent to your email.

I'm pretty computer illiterate so I can't help you with that.

I've NEVER gone to a porn site...yet I still get crap in my email account. If looking in history, you should be able to see if they spent anytime there looking around and such. If it's only one thing, I wouldn't be too awfully concerned...if it keeps happening...ASK!

i get tons of e-mail spam from lord knows where, sometimes the subject line is decieving and ill check it out.

Its always some porn site. the lates is teen farm girls they are having a contest to see if anyone can guess the size of her horses unit! geeez.

anyway, the history will tell you what pages he went to, did he click the link, open the page and then take the tour? or did he just click the link, see what came up and close it.

i just checked my history and there are links to all kinds of pop ups ive had today x-10 cameras etc.. nothing i went to look at.

also if you open the folder and right click the link that was visited you can see the date and time it was seen. that may be helpful for ya.

hope that helps

If it's email, and not opened but just deleted, it would not show in history. if it's a pop up that came up while visiting another site, yes it will show in history as a cookie. you don't have to click on it. It pops up like things do at search sites, card sites, etc. or even at sites you've gone to while surfing. However, it will say if it's a cookie or a site visited. Most say popup ads by them in the history folder. I've got some right now that say "for site" to left, then to right says popup and cookie ads. Those were from just opening a card sent to me, greeting card and some from the flowgo site also. You can click on it in the history folder for more info, it will bring it up. or should. Hope this helps.LouLou

I'm sure everyone is just trying to be helpful, but it really depends on several things, including browser used (internet explorer, netscape, opera, etc), setting for history, etc, version of browser, operating system, etc...

As a rule, if there is just ONE listing for the site, then it's probably a pop up ad (and yes, most pop up ads do show in history). If there are multiple pages in history for that site, then they probably were there for a while (ie: not a pop up ad)...
