I have been married for 20 years, and have also been trying to make my marriage work for the past two years after my husbands infidelities. We moved to a new state because of my husbands job transfer. His work keeps him gone 3-4 days a week. I am living in the country without a vehicle and only get out when he comes home to go grocery shopping ect, I don't have any friends or relatives to socialize with. I don't have a vehicle. We have lived here for a year now and I have lived this way for a year beliving and relying on my husband's words about getting me a vehicle so I can go out and get a job, for something to do. He has not bothered to get me a vehicle or even attempted it. I feel like I was dumped off in a house in the country, with my life stopping and his going on. I can't take this anymore and I want a seperation. My problems are I have no transportation to leave, no money and no job.Every penny that comes into this house he controls. If I am lucky enough to get money,I hold onto it by hiding it in the house since I can't get to the bank. He ends up finding it and takes it.I have tried to talk this over with my husband and tell him how I feel, He says he understands, but doesn't do anything about any of it. I will admitt I am really angry with him for him not listening to me and avoiding my situation. I am feeling depressed and I can't even get to the doctors. He tells me he loves me, but I don't believe him anymore. How can you love someone you only see 2 hours a week, how can you love someone and yet let them live in this condition? How do I go about leaving him. Will I be entitled to Alimony or is that only if we divorce? I have two children, one who is 15 and one who just turned 18, but has not finished school yet. Would my husband be required to pay child support for both of them or just the 15 year old? I feel abandoned and neglected, could I bring this up in court, and would my living conditions even matter in the court of law? I have been cheated on and now I feel abandoned and neglected. Is this just me or can you guys see it to? We only have intimate encounters once a month, and that doesn't leave me with a feeling of love but rather a sex toy at best.If i refuse to fullfill my wifly duties he just goes off and is not concerned about it, which makes me feel if i don't give it to him he will get it else where. I have tried to discuss these issues with him, and he says he understands, but that is as far as it gets.Nothing positive happens. He told me that he was getting another job that would allow him to be home more and bring in more money. Well he did get this job and it does bring in more money but he is gone even more now. I have only see him for 2 hours in the past 4 days.I need some advise here can anyone help me figure out what I should do? I feel my only choice is to somehow find a way to leave this situation, but without any job, money or tansportation I don't know how to do it. I do love him, but I am finding it hard to trust him or believe what he says anymore. Any Advise at all would be helpful, I don't want to leave him, just the situation.Any advise as to what to do? Thanks Bobbie Jean

Do you have a telephone?

Call your local "Women and Children In Crisis" hotline, or ask for a referral to the equivalent from Social Services. They would be better able to help you out of the situation than anything we might post.

I don't know the other side of the story, but my guess from what you've shared is that he is wanting to prevent you from having any options for his breaking marital vows. That's a form of domestic abuse and there is legal recourse.

Women's Services in your area would be able to help you begin to get some autonomy - first with a car - you can get a loan on "household" income quite easily and also apply for credit cards to help you so get talking to a counselor at the women's shelter quickly!

Sorry to hear of your situation. Contact a lawyer and womens shelter. You can get a free consultation from a lawyer. Depending on the state you live in, you will get child support for the 15 year old and spousal support. Time to get on with life and not accept the way you are living. Get your ducks in line without letting H know. Then just disappear to let him know you mean business. Hang in there and keep posting.
