My girlfriend and I have known each other for 12 years. We have had a few relationships with each other in that time. They have always began and ended at her discretion. Our relationship now has lasted for 18 months. A month ago we were engaged. She called it off and said that she still love's me, but is not in love with me. She always says this when we are not getting along. I know and except the fact that I have taken out too many love units recently, and am following the guidelines to rekindle our love. I have never doubted her, but did question her lack of affection display towards me vocally and often. There is more but is quite lenghty. My question is: She still wears the engagement ring, alternating ring fingers. At times she will tell me she loves me and other times won't return it when I say it. She wants to take a break, but I wonder what is her ultimate plan in the end.

Clearly, your girlfriend has reservations.
On the MB site, the love you, not in love bit is usually associated with a third person. Since you two aren't married, maybe she is not sure that you are the one and that is, after all, a very good thing to think about before marriage.
In the absense of a third person, perhaps she has concerns for the viability of the relationship or you as a potential spouse.
Does she have justifiable concerns? If she does, address them now, get them dealt with and you two can probably move on. If you can't or won't address them, then you have to question the strength of the relationship.
Do you feel that her reservations or concerns are unjustified?
Perhaps you should have a serious discussion of all of this with her. She may already be telling you all that you need to know.
Good luck.

To spt_fl;
Yes after looking back I do see reasons for her to question my viability as a spouse. She probably has told me what needs to be done, but I can't read her message very well. I have spent the last month working on where I went wrong, but she still shows mistrust and won't see that I have made progress. Anymore info anybody?
