My husband and I have been married for a little over a year now. We have talked about starting a family many times, but never really "set a date" to start trying.
Well, I will be graduating from Nursing school this May and I really want to start trying in September. That way, the baby will be born after graduation. I don't mind being pregnant in school.
WEll, at first, my husband was saying that he wanted to wait until after I graduated and started working to start trying, and he stuck to that for a long time.
Then one night, we had a long talk about it, and he was being really sweet and he told me that if I wanted to go ahead and start trying in Sept, then he wanted to too. And he even told me to go ahead and get off The Pill so my cycles could regulate. So I did.
And I told him then, I said "Don't tell me you want to start trying if you are just going to change your mind." And he promised me that he wouldn't change his mind.
Then, the other day - he did. He went back to his first thoughts - wanting to wait until I get out of school and start working. It really crushed me, b/c we were less than a month away from trying!
Have any of you ever been in this situation before? And what did you do? How can I compromise with him, and what should I do?
I am really heartbroken.

Thanks in advance.

I can kind of understand what you are going through only because I have heard this same complaint from my boyfriend.

I always thought I would want another child as soon as I was finished with school.(ironicly nursing school)
well now that I am nearing my graduation I am thinking... maybe I want to go on and become a nurse practioner?
I brought up my doubts with my bf and he got upset. He always wanted to have at least two kids.
We already have a 2 year old together so I am in a different situation here but the point is that people usually don't change their minds about these kind of issues for no reason are you guys going through any kind of change? Or did he not want to have kids in the first place?

How is he around the children you know?

I hope you can figure out why he changed his mind all of a sudden. I know I wasn't much help but your feelings really struck me as exactly how my bf must be feeling [Eek!]
