I wrote this poem yesterday after I burst into tears while listening to a song title "the prayer" by Celine Dion. The song is half french so I did not understand most of it. Nevertherless, for some strange reason I cried uncontrollaby.
Last couple of days I've been in a funk and can't seem to snap out of it. She is trying but it doesn't seem to matter anymore. I feel so sad. Prayer is what keeps me alive.
POEM
At times when I drive
I burst into tears and can't help but cry
It may be a song that ignites the tears
Or a thought or a trigger that makes me feel fear
I try to contain myself as I wipe the tears
Like rivers they fall
Unto soft cheeks that no longer can cheer
Are you there my God to hear?
I don't feel that you're near
Please send me your calming peace
Put my troubled spirit at ease
Some days I fly long and high
And some days I barely get by
Some days I can see the light of day
And some days all is dark and gray
Create a new person in me
Where there is sadness put joy
Where there is hopelessness put hope
Where there is crying and pain
Shower me with your Holy Spirit rain
When all seems lost
Bring your salvation
When there are bad thoughts that bring me down
Bring to my heart hope and elation
Oh God hear my cry
With your love
Wipe my tears dry
7/18/01
