Hi again,
I regularly get involved with my own womans prayer circle as I very much believe in the great Power of prayerand strenth we can draw from each other. However this is such a personal subject I have tried not to dicuss this with anyone close to us as i don't want to be disloyal and make this more painful for H. I am therefore asking in this forum where there are so many understanding and caring folks that some of you who can please pray for him that he might come to know the lord. He is a very academic man who loves to look at the Bible as a historic book but has no faith to understand its true value for our lives'A man of science" he feels he needs scientific evidence that Christ was the Son of God and that God indeed exists. I believe that although my husband is a kind and sweet man who has made a foolish choice 2 years ago he can be redeemed and saved. I further believe that many of the poorer choices he has made on occations in the past and that he still makes in life could well be avoided with the knowledge and Goodness that knowing Jesus brings. I know that he feels I am a naturally kind person but this is not true for anyone. I work every day on trying to be what God would have me be so that i may be used for good. A decent person that I can feel good about as my natural tendancy like everyone elses is to give into to some less attractive habits. I am very intentional about the way i live my life and the way I self correct. I do this in order to try to live with honor and grace and not have too many regrets. It serves to counter act some of my more destructive or challenging personality traits. In his case he is a muti faceted ,extremely talented and gifted person who i feel sometimes wastes his gifts through selfishness or bad decisions. I ask only that you pray that his blindness to Christ be removed and his eyes be opened to possibilities he has previously not been prepared to even consider.I ask this Because i believe in the Wonderful, Restorative Power that comes from interceding in great Numbers on anothers behalf. I belive it will help to heal his heart and the burden on his soul that makes him doubt his worth. Thank you [ May 02, 2003, 05:09 PM: Message edited by: DisapointedDana ]

Dana, If your husband is analytical maybe you could give him some of the analytical books. I have read a few and could get some names for you. One was called "the case for Jesus" I think. As you already know you cant change him or the way he thinks, you can only ask the spirit to [censored] his heart. My H also made a foolish choice 2 years ago, but people can change for the better believe it. I will pray for you today. L

Thank You so much I really appreciate it. Yes I wouldlike to know of any great books or materials. I have in fact bought the Case for Christ by Lee Strobel and he picked it up and strated to read it but ive noticed recently s(since A came out) that it has been left a side. He says he will read it but has too much on his mind right now as the discussions we are having about everything has caused him to feel very stressed, humiliated and ashamed. I am hoping he will one day think about Promise Keepers and he mentioned that to me this this year but as he has no working papers yet he does not go out much and unfortunately does not know any Men who are going. I think many things will improve when Immigration finally catches up with the back log and gets his papers reday so he can work and get among the land of the people again.Thank you again for your prayers...In Christian Love Dana

I'm sorry that I don't have a better memory...I can't remember the name nor author of the book I would like to recommend (big help huh?). It is a science-based book refuting evolutionary doctrine. The author is from a church in Moscow, ID. I asked a friend who grew up there about the book and he happened to be a member of that church and gave a copy of the book to me! Now, I can't find it, but I will keep trying.
Some advice: Try to focus any scientific arguments to his field of knowledge and interest. Mine happens to be biology and the book, for which I have no information, fits that bill.
I lucked out. I had an inspired biology instructor when I began college. I was not a Christian. He taught biology in a way that emphasized the beauty in all biological processes in the world. Once a process was understood to the smallest detail, the profoundity of anyone calling it "chance" seemed insanity. He didn't offer solutions, only brought the horse to the well. I've found that my ability to enjoy science and have unique ideas (very important in science) comes from my eyes being open to the many, many dogmas that exist. Evolution nor religion have any place in science...neither is provable using the scientific method which is the foundation for all scientific endeavor. As a man of science, I often pray that God will help me see his wonders in such unlikely things as bacteria. However, I could never write a paper detailing a process and finish-up with "...because that's the way God made it."
Lots of food for thought in this arena. It's an ugly argument to jump into with a non-believer though. When I finally saw the light, I went to my bio instructor and told him how much some things were bothering me in our text and other things that we'd read. At that point, out of the classroom, he did tell me about God and that every day during class there were scores of people praying for me, by name, as he taught. Whoah! It all hit me. I saw other students begin feeling the same itch and they would soon be earning A's in a difficult class.
Of course, this man was fired from his job. No one could pinpoint why he was "officially" fired but everyone knew. He didn't fight it. He felt God spoke to him that this would happen and that he should not fight it.
To this day, students speak of a science instructor they heard was an outstanding teacher but was fired for his out of the classroom beliefs.
Ya, I know this is way more than you asked for but I felt like telling the story. I will certainly pray that your husband. He will truly feel a great sense of relief when he finally sees science through the eyes of the Creator. It's an ugly, ugly world of chance and genetic mistakes otherwise.
