My grandneice was born with a StrepB infection in August. The doctors gave her a 25% chance of being "normal". 50% chance of not making it, and 25% chance of permanent complications.

I sent out a prayer request, and she made it. Now she has been in and out of the hospital. One concern is that she may end up with cerebral palsy. And, currently she is suffering from double pnemonia, RSV (I don't know much about that), some sort of staph infection, she has an enlarged heart and a heart murmer.

This little girl is only 6 months old, and has had so much suffering. Please pray that she is healed, and lives a healthy normal life. Also, please pray for the doctors and nurses that are taking care of her.
Last night my sister was praying about whether or not to have the baby baptized right away. My sister stopped at the store, and she ran into a pastor. She asked the pastor what faith he was, and he was Missouri Synod Lutheran. (This is the faith we were raised in.) She asked if he would baptize the baby. They scheduled it for this Sunday at 1:00. It looks like the baby should be baptized tomorrow morning.
Today, the baby is just laying there and has lost all her strength, and her color is gone, and she is all purple around the eyes. She won't even smile. She has a blotchy rash, and they don't know why. Yesterday she was smiling and reaching for hugs, even though she was so sick and hospitalized.
She needs our prayers now, guys. Please please please, say a prayer for Alexis. Pray that she gets baptized right away, and that she gains her strength and gets healed.
I will keep you all updated.
Connie
NSR, Butterfly,
Thank you very much. I'm really worried now. No, I'm not, I'm counting on God to intervene. Thank you for your timely prayers.
My sister had a call from the hospital and left her computer and went back to the hospital..... She had been at the hospital all day, and came home to get dinner for everyone. And now I wait.
I am sitting on pins and needles, and I thank you so much for being there for prayer for Alexis.
I'll keep you updated. I want that baby baptized ASAP!!!
Please Lord, Please help! In Jesus Name, Amen.

Connie,
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with your grand-niece, your sister and you.
This must be so difficult. It is hard enough when someone who has lived a long and healthy life is ill, let alone a baby who has not yet known the many pleasures life has to offer.
God bless.
Lisa

Praying for God's will. Although we all seek a long happy earlthy life, being called home is not without its benefits.
Even if this baby's life is short, I am sure she had purpose and meaning in her life. She is blessed and her life has also been a blessing for others.
------------------
Faith, Hope, Love Remain,
but the greatest of these is Love.
1 Corinthians 13:13

Connie,
My heart goes out to you, your family, and especially the little one!
I am buddhist so I will not be praying but, I will, do an extra 108 mantras for the little one to the goddess Bhodhitsava Kwan Yin, the goddess of compassion.

And so you are better informed on what is going on with the baby,, RSV is respiratory syncytial virus. It is a form of Bronchiolitis, and is more than likely a result of the combination of being born with group beta strep, and an enlarged heart. It is very curable with the right treatment.
So lets keep the prayers up for the Doctors to make the right treatment choices.
And most importantly let's all pray for the baby!!
James
[This message has been edited by JW (edited February 10, 2000).]

Lostva,
Thank you for your prayers and the candle. It is a wait to know what is next.
Mitzi, Thank you, I know God is with her, and he is sending comfort to us. It's funny how the family who is so far away logistically, can come together and be close at a time like this. I am so thankful for email, this forum, my computer, and the Lord.
Lisa M, Thank you also. This is the difficult part for my neice, the baby's mother. She said this morning, "I know, Aunt Connie, I know that heaven is a beautiful place. And I know the Lord wants me to have her baptized. I am just afraid of why he wants to have her baptized, is death knocking at the door? She looks so bad, really really bad. I have had her for 6 months, and I don't want to lose her now. I want to watch her grow up."

FHL, I listened to the song "Beautiful Savior" this morning..... fair are the woodlands, fair are the meadows..... and, I know heaven is a wonderful wonderful place. I just broke out in tears of joy, because I know that no matter what happens, God is with her, and she is loved. I pray for my family, and my neice and my sister. I pray the Lord is especially close right now to them both.
They are meeting with the pastor tonight at 7:30. It sounds like they are going to wait until Sunday for the baptism. I hope Alexis can hang on.
God Bless you all, and thank you so much for your prayers. It means so very much to me and to my neice.
Alexis made it through the night, and they are going to the hospital now, and going to hear some results of the blood work.
They never would have known that Alexis had an enlarged heart or a heart murmer unless they had done the chest xray for pnemonia. So, maybe this is part of the blessing.
I'll keep you all updated.

James,
Thank you thank you thank you. I really am glad I know more of the technical area.
My neice said her face is very swollen, and she has a rash. She wonders if Alexis is allergic to the medication, or if this is common. I'm sure she has plenty of questions to ask the doctors. She said Alexis has never had this medicine given to her before.
Well, we are praying for the doctors and nurses right along with Alexis and the family. Thank you so much, James.

Connie,
Her appearance as you describe could be a number of things...a reaction to the medication(depends on what the med is), a result of "apnea" which in lay terms is not getting enough oxygen from the blood. but that is very common in rsv cases. in bronchiolitis the "modules" in the lungs that collect the O2(oxygen) from the air become swollen and don't operate efficiantly.
Her not being very active is also extremely common. An RSV patient is lethargic and is difficult to arouse(maybe that's my problem ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif) ). Don't worry though...She sounds like a "text book case" and should be able to pull through this.
And I can guarantee she is getting the best care she can get! (medically and spiritually)
Please keep us updated!
And if you have any medical questions to ask about I'll be more than happy to give my 2 cents worth! (who would of thought, 7 years of college for a stupid degree, and I finally get to use it ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif) )
James

TNT,
I just said a prayer for you , your family, the doctors and the baby. You have brought tears to my eyes. Here I am complaining about my rotten life, and I got a wake up call to be thankful for my own 3 healthy kids. I have an aunt who lives in Missouri. She is sick with a rare blood disease, and I know that state has some of the best specialists in the country, because that is why they moved there.
Prayers and thoughts are with you. Dana
