There is a vacum in your heart demanding to be filled. God created that void to be filled only by Him. When he is not given access, you will attempt to fill it with other 'things' or people.

I would like to share this story I found in the scriptures....
"When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
Then it says, `I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order.

Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation."

The point is this. An 'unoccupied' or empty house (heart) is not good. Before you try emptying yourself of someone/something that need not be there in your heart, be sure you know what it is that you want to fill it with. Otherwise, you too, may end up worse in the end.
Why not allow God to fill it with His Love and presence.
Have a good day.
