Just a quick note as I have a laundry pile bigger than some rooms in my house!
Guard and I had a wonderful 5 days on the Mayan Riviera. The resort was quiet, laidback, the service wonderful and we were "us". We weren't the walking wounded we had become, we weren't WS or BS, or parents, no responsibilities, no schedule--except trying to catch the tours we wanted.
We do like a lot of the same things, including "mas cervasas por favor" ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif) . We danced, snorkeled, slept in the hammock. More than a couple people asked if we were honeymooners "because we looked so happy".
The last day we took out our wedding rings sat by the side of the ocean and said new vows. Vows really nothing like our first marriage vows 17 years ago. We apologized for the bad times, took joy from the good times, promised honesty and kindness. It was conversation rather than formal.
True, I cried and had a moment of utter terror. The rings felt tight ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif) for both of us (fingers just swollen from the heat & humidity!) In the past year I've thrown my rings several times across various rooms and Guard stashed his in his vehicle, I never thought I'd get much pleasure out of seeing either of them on our fingers--in fact, I brought up getting new ones--but, I have to say, the rings still sparkle & gleam. With the repentence & forgiveness we both feel, I don't think the rings have to symbolize our old marriage, not if we continue our marriage with new hearts.
I don't expect smooth sailing. Guard & I are both too stubborn & strong-willed, and I think that is part of the reason I wanted him badly enough to Plan A for 18 months & why he then began Plan A & continued for 4 months after I stopped. We're perfect for each other.
I really see the Guard I fell in love with and was married to for some pretty good years prior to all of this. I had no longer expected him back, but it is really wonderful to see & spend time with him.
Success can happen. And no matter what happens from here on out, we are a success.
Guard just popped in, read the above post, and says, "Hey, everybody, we're doing great." ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif)
And that's nice.
------------------
Lor
"Let love be genuine...hold fast to what is good; love one another." Lor & Guard:
Welcome back. I bet you wish you could have stayed a little longer...but, it sounds like you brought the magic home with you.
I remember the first night David and I wore our rings last winter. We held hands while we made love and my eyes went from his eyes to his left hand. The rings meant everything.
Your daughters are adjusting beautifully and are happy again?
Your family is in my prayers.
Catnip =^^=

Lor,
I am so happy that you and Guard had such a wonderful trip.
Your marriage is one that is truly blessed. You both have endured so much pain and frustration but found your way back to each other.
You and guard are an inspiration for those of us who still can not find the path to true recovery.
Hang in there. It appears that you've been through the worst of the storm but remember there will most likely be small thundershowers along the rest of your trip together.
Geez, I'm not usually so philisophical! But I am truly glad and envious that the two of you found your way back to each other and to make your family whole again.
Stay in touch.
Chris

Lor - What wonderful news! If anybody deserves to get back on track, it's you. I remember reading some of your earliest & most agonizing posts.
Ain't it great having a stubborn spouse (& being stubborn yourself)? ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif) I think it saved us many times over, too.
Best of luck to you & Guard - enjoy that 2nd honeymoon - ours has calmed down a little bit, but is still going on... ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)

I wake up everyday and wonder if this is real. I try not to do too much doubting, just continue to drop those ugly memories and actions--both of ours.
Thank you all so much--Paha, FHL, catnip, NSR, Wassi, Ohmy. For those of you who have watched the journey, you know a positive outcome was never a certain thing.
Deb--didn't mean to make you cry! I guess we're an example, like you are, of try, try again. I actually thought of your wedding vow renewal in Mexico and thought that if Guard did what Mike did, well, the frying pan would be the least of his trouble. Talk is cheap! I know!
Hoping--our H's behavior has run on such similar lines, would you want me to take a vial of Guard's blood & send it to you to see if there are any antibodies your H can utilize? Think on Plan B, not the messy thing I did.
Suse--glad to hear your honeymoon is going strong. I've thought of you guys a lot and been glad to know someone came out of a similar situation and has put it back together. I know Guard appreciated Duncmac's emails.
The best to all of you.
Hoping--
------------------
Lor
"Let love be genuine...hold fast to what is good; love one another." Rom 12:9-10

K & TNT ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif) right back at ya.
Sheba--thanks for the kind words...I'd like to think (sometimes ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/wink.gif) ) that I'm acting like an adult. One of the biggest changes I've noticed lately is that Guard asks me what I'm thinking--this is the question he forbade me to ask him quite some time ago. Things change. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/grin.gif) Although, I'm going to have to try to think more interesting thoughts. ![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/shocked.gif)
