I told y'all in the thread I posted about my bday blow up I had at mike, that I went to the ER last Sunday. <P>Turns out I passed a kidney stone. Wensday I had to see a urologist to follow up because there are still two stones in the left kidney and I was still in pain.<P>They put me straight into the hospital and kept me there on morphine for fives days and on Vicodan for one. I got home tuesday night. I'm still on Vicodan now. I have to make arrangements for the sonic wave treatment where they smack the remaining stones so passing them won't make me scream quite as loud.<P>The blessed part is that while I was there my Auntie Pooh who was planning to give us a 1985 Ford she has was taslking to one of my cousins about how much hassle she was having getting the paper work to give us this car done. My cousin then gave us a 1996 Chevrolet Chavlier with a years paid insurence !! When we tried to thank her she said "Don't thank me, thank God !"<P>So Not only am I thanking Him I am sharing this testimony with y'all too. !<P>We have never had a car this new or this nice. I was thrilled to be getting the 1985 Ford, this blew my socks off.<P>And Mike has been really good to me since the blow up, he even cooked dinner for both of us tonight before he went to work. TV dinners . but still he did that for me, awwwww. <P>I am really weak and kind of out of it from the medication. Awww Deb! Hope you will be doing fine, soon.<P> I can fill you in on the lithotripsy (sp?).<BR>I was sedated for it. Word of warning...that table is Cold!!! Very basically, it feels like someone is poking you (really HARD) with the tip of their finger, right over the affected kidney. I complained that I could feel that and it was really uncomfortable...the doc just about knocked me out, then. I snoozed for the rest of the procedure.<P> Preparations that I had to undergo... no food allowed the night before or morning of procedure (par for the course). Worst thing is the magnesium of citrate. I think that was it. Anywho... you have to drink a bottle of this stuff the night before. Best to drink it ice-cold. Drink it early on... It didn't act on my bowels until the next morning...I spent about 45 minutes in a hospital bathroom, with about 60 strangers just outside the door. Whew! Not fun.<P> Afterward, you will have blood in your urine for quite a few days. They will probably ask you to pass it thru a sieve... if the doc does it well, you shouldn't get anything. The stones are usually pulverized to grains...great news...you won't be in pain from trying to pass 'em!<P> I'm glad your hubbie is being such a sweetie. Tell him to prepared for you to be wiped out the rest of the day of the procedure. After-effects of the sedation.<P> There is one risk, high blood pressure as a result of the procedure. Very unusual, but it can happen. They will want a follow-up about a month after, to check it.<BR> <BR> Good luck, hon. Thank the stars for pain meds, eh? <P> Mynabird

Deb, as a nurse, I can attest to the extreme pain that a kidney stone brings with it. I hope all goes well. <P>I am happy that despite the above your life is filled with "blessings"..<P>I will be thinking of you as you have further treatment. Good luck

FH&L, Praise God ! I am so happy that you don't have this ! <P>Anyone else who reads this, please pray for my Uncle Billy. He has cancer in his liver, lungs, brain and lymph system, he also has Hep C. The doctors told him today that there is nothing they can do , that he may have two months to live.
