This doesn't have to be bad news. The worst case scenario is that the Air Force won't reconsider and you need to retire. Might I suggest you do just that and move to Minneapolis. Unemployment is low, schools are good and Dr. Harley is nearby. Seriously, Good luck with some tough decisions. I don't have to tell you this but whatever you do, don't let go of the kids. Might I offer this prayer for you today.
Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine master, grant that I may not
So much seek to be consoled, as to console,
To be understood, as to understand,
To be loved, as to love,
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Maya, Not a very good place for someone in your shoes. Plenty of male companionship & nothing to do. In winter, you would be lucky to get outside more than once a week and the base is very small. About four buildings includung living quarters.
TCL, I actually grew up in St Paul Park. Lived there for five years. I have actually thought about going back there sometime.
I can't accept the assignment for a few reasons. DUH!
1. If I go & leave the kids with my SIL, which is my current plan if I have to go somewhere for a short time, then the Wife will most likely snatch 'em up. Besides, I can't leave 'em for an extended period (12 month assignment) so soon after Mom split!
2. If the Wife comes back before then, we couldn't actuallt "fix" anything, could we?
3. If she doesn't come back before then, I think a divorce would be imminent. (sp?)
------------------
Prayers & God Bless!
Chris
For relationship info check out Marriage & Relationship Resources

Well, I believe I could occupy myself with a BB gun ... with all that "male" companionship ... they will be easy targets.
Sorry. I know it's serious, Chris.

Chris, will say a prayer for you.
I do not understand military logic, whatsoever. I do not get it. What happens, does some crazy computer pick names? It sure isn't good timing for a 12 month assignment in Greenland..... Unbelievably crappy assignment and timing. uggh.
Maybe retirement would be the way to go right now, your reasoning looks sound. #1 reason right now is that your wife abandoned your daughters, and you cannot allow yourself to do the same thing to them. They are just getting to the point of adjustment. And you've been such a good Mr. Mom. Halloween cookies, costumes, etc. etc.
Do what is most important to you, family first.
You can always get another job, but getting another family is not so easy.
God bless.
TNT
