My girlfriend and I just broke up and it's getting ugly. I don't want to be bitter towards her and say mean things but I have. She is just retaliating. It needs to stop. I would like to stay friends. Any advice on how to get rid of the bad feelings?

I have always found that time and space heal most wounds. Old saying but true!
If you truly do not want to continue to see her or reconcile, I would suggest putting some serious space between your conversations. Some people like to argue and feel that if they do it long enough, they will get their way.
Also, if she thinks she is hurting you back she will continue to fuel the arguement. Take the "fun" out of it and at least act like her words have no effect on your feelings.
Good luck!
