So how do I recoop from MIL attack?
When H told his mother we were getting married, she was sweetness and light. Then when she found out I was a different religion, she went out of her way to try & get H not to marry me. H finally told her that while he loved her, he was going to marry me.
When we decided to get married outside of his state, his parents said they would not come to his wedding. Now H says his mother has "forgiven" me & has changed her mind.
How can I speak to her about this horrible thing w/o getting everyone up in arms? At this point, I avoid being anywhere near his parents. Thus far I've only had to be at their house twice - I'm afraid I shan't be able to continue forever.

Wow -that's rough. I once dated a woman whose mother was one of those prosperity Christians, I got sick and was in the hospital for a few days and her mother told the woman to dump me because if I was really a good Christian I wouldn't have gotten sick and I'd have more money. One of the things that makes me shy away from religion in general is the way people use it to exercise what self-righteous, insensitive jerks they are.
Good luck
quote:
Originally posted by breadwinner:
So how do I recoop from MIL attack?
When H told his mother we were getting married, she was sweetness and light.
