My husband's financial plans have brought us to near-ruin, although he is still counting on high-risk investments to pull us out 'any day now'.....
I am asking that he sell a vehicle that we owe $9,000 on and is beyond our means.....I am the only wage earner.
I have been trying to stay out of the Holy Spirit's way of dealing with my husband, and wonder if I should continue to let him make these unwise, devastating decisions -- if it's what's needed to bring him to submission and obedience to the Lord, then I don't want to be in the way. At the same time, I feel responsible as I see our pension savings, our sons' education funds gone, and our home the next on the chopping block. If he had Alzheimer's, I know I wouldn't let him have authority. Is spiritual deception any different? Anyone have any scriptural help here for me? I'm finding nothing that seems to relate to my position.
------------------
Committed

You see a person who is drowning, and is about to pull down his family with it. While this is self-destructiion on your part, it is also a test of your own faith. God's light should shine outwards from his children the same way a lighthouse does to save ships.
I myself had to completely bottom out before I realized I needed God back in my life. This person may still be sliding on his downward-spiral, and won't bottom out until he has lost everything: his credit, his home, his children, his wife, etc...
I am also in a relationship with a self-destructing person. I have given that person an ultimatum in order to bring them out of their fantasy world and back towards reality. I have told my STBXW that she either seek help alone or with me, or else I am getting a divorce. To back up this statement, I filed the divorce petition and had her served the papers. This doesn't say that the divorce will go through. It only shows that I am serious about this. It is all done in a caring and loving manner. "God loves you and so do I; however, this is not the Christian environment I want myself or my child to live in."
You are indeed being tested. The DEvil may have a hold of your H, but what he really wants is to get ahold of you.
This is my view...I'm not saying take this serious an action...I am only giving you my opinion and story.
