What We Are Born With
We are born with two eyes in front
Because we must not always look behind
But see what lies ahead beyond ourselves.
We are born to have two ears; one left, one right
So that we can hear both sides
Collect both the compliments and criticisms
To see which are right.
We are born with brain concealed in a skull
Then no matter how poor, we are still rich
For no one can steal what our brain contains
Packing in more jewels and rings than you can think.
We are born with two eyes, two ears
But one mouth for the mouth is a sharp weapon
It can hurt, flirt and kill
Remember our motto: talk less, listen and see more.
We are born with only one heart
Deep in our ribs
It reminds us to appreciate and give love from deep within.
Some things to Ponder ...
* It is better to be silent and be considered a fool
than to speak and remove all doubt of it.
* A person's true character is revealed by what he
does when no one is watching.
* Some people complain because God put thorns on roses,
while others praise Him for putting roses among thorns.
* Although the tongue weighs very little, very few people
are able to hold it.
* Success in a marriage is more than finding the right
person. It's becoming the right person.
* Falling down doesn't make you a failure, but
staying down does.
* Don't be afraid of pressure. Remember that pressure
is what turns a lump of coal into a diamond.
* Even a woodpecker owes his success to the fact that
he uses his head.
* The poorest of all men is not the man without a cent
but the man without a dream.
* The only preparation for tomorrow is the right use of today.
* People don't care how much you know until they know
how much you care.
* Temper is what gets most of us into trouble.
Pride is what keeps us there.
* The difference between ordinary and extraordinary
is that little "extra."
* The heart is the happiest when it beats for others.
* One thing you can learn by watching the clock is
that it passes time by keeping its hands busy.
Saskia,
Those are great gems. I'd only change the wording of one of them slightly. Rather than,

quote:
* A person's true character is revealed by what he does when no one is watching.

I'd change that to:
***A person's true character is revealed by how he accepts responsibility for, learns from, and is willing to change the bad things he's done when no one was watching.***
I just think the first wording leaves no room for hope, no room for change, and no room for human fallability. EVERYONE makes mistakes and bad choices. I believe it's in our acceptance, acknowledgement and willingness to take responsibility for those things that defines our character. Just an additional thought to ponder.
------------------
Love is meant to heal. Love is meant to renew. Love is meant to oust all fear. Love is meant to harmonize differences. Love is meant to bring us closer to God.
