I've talked about the disrespectful way my WABI x talks at me. Not to me - at me. Actually, he yells at me. And he even does this when the children are in the vacinity - maybe not within sight but probably within earshot.
Last night when he brought the children home, he had sheet of paper with things to go over printed on it. We started over his #%$@*@ list with him not giving me good opportunities to talk. And I didn't like the tone of his voice. When the volume got just a little too loud for my taste, I told him he needed to turn it down. He told me it wasn't too loud and I replied that it sounded to me like he was yelling at me. He was standing in the living room doorway - thankfully, he won't come in.
So, when he didn't turn it down, I walked off and said I'd come back if he'd speak more civilly. He yelled that I couldn't walk off. I told him I could and I was doing it until he stopped yelling. He said he wasn't the one walking off (as if that made his behaviour acceptable) to which I replied that I wasn't the one yelling.
He did finally simmer down. I came back.
Now, what decent father would pull this stunt at the living room door with both of his children in the living room?
Too bad I didn't shut the door in his face.

Cinderella,

I empathize with ya. But I wanted to give you a quick word of encouragement, that your behavior was very mature. You did not tell him he HAD to do XYZ, but rather you set a boundary for yourself. Hey, he could have chosen to continue yelling and being a jerk, right? It's his decision.
Here's another quick word of encouragement. At the end of this episode, upon review, can you honestly say that you feel pretty good about the way you handled it, the way you responded, and the kind of person you were? SEE. Good job.
CJ
P.S. I've been there 1000 times with you. It's really hard, isn't it?

It sounds like you did a very good job staying in control of the situation, not to mention yourself. You walked away and left him standing in the door shouting like a child. He has a lot of nerve walking into your home and shouting at you. Here’s to a job well done.
I hope he drops by tonight so I can give him a piece of my mind! Do you think the limo out front will intimidate him?

------------------
JH93
