Does anyone disagree with these two sites? I'm in the process of rewriting them (yes they are mine) and I would like to know what the christians here think about them?

well...for one..God doesn't HATE the person
who gets divorced..He HATES divorce..divorce is a thing..not a person..it's something that happens...
God loves the sinner..yet He HATES the sin..
there is a BIG Difference..
And alot of marriages when you look at so many men saying the wife isn't submissive
they are putting her under the law..the marriage is a marriage under the law..when the husband isn't submissive to God and treating his wife the way Christ loves the Church... Alot of ppl live with very condemning ppl..and when they use condemnation thats when they put them under the law...

I have a few *ahem* problems with the idea that adultery is the "ONLY" good reason for a divorce.
Check out Ephesians 5:21-33 ...
Yes, it says wives must submit to their husbands ... but it ALSO says that husbands should love their wives as their own bodies.
I have yet to hear of a good excuse for treating "their own bodies" with violence and disrespect.
A wife can only submit to that for so long. Some wives continue (maybe they feel they *must* because someone told them the only good reason for divorce is adultery), and some wives see their young sons turning into their fathers and get out while they can.
I chose to not be an example for my children that I could not agree with. I would not want my son to think that what he was shown was the correct way for a man to treat his wife, any more than I would like my daughter to think that she should grow up to be that sort of woman, whose husband is the law, even if he treats the family pet better than his wife.
I never wanted a divorce. I wanted this man I married to be that respectful husband that I could submit to and still feel like a valuable human being. That was not the relationship that evolved from our marriage.
Here's another question for those Bible interpreters out there ... I believe in God and Jesus Christ now. I was not a believer when I married this man. He has always claimed to be a believer, but does not live as one. Is our marriage legitimate ... was it ever a real marriage in God's eyes?

[This message has been edited by T-L-C (edited March 01, 2001).]

{ThornedRose}...
...so right.
{T-L-C}...
Violence, abuse, domination is not the same as submission...
...and nowhere near mutual submission...
The is an awesome responsibility for a parent to bring up children...
...with the right ideas of marriage.
...prayer can get you to the answers to your questions...
I'm praying for you.
![[Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]](http://www.marriagebuilders.com/forum/images/icons/smile.gif)
Jim

HopeHH... thanks for the websites. K- also thanks for the link to a previous thread... how do you find those anyway?
TLC - tough question. However, I'm not sure God says you must be a Christian to be married (in His eyes)... He just says when you enter into a covenant relationship - you are to stay in it. There are lots of biblical references to being married to an unbeliever and if they choose to stay then so be it. No where does it say if one becomes a Christian, then they're free to go.
Bottom line: God wants us in relationship with Him and others... that's how He draws the world (of people) closer to Him... if each one would reach one! So, Peter 3 exhorts wives to win their husbands over not by words but by actions...
Gotta go work out now! Sorry for the rushed response...
------------------
Freedom is doing what you like - Happiness is liking what you do.
