Hi folks, completely new on this side of the board. I've been lurking and posting a little on EM, but the time has come for me to move over here [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com] If anyone says "Welcome" I'm gonna scream [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
Anyway, I'm not originally from the U.S. and I wonder if the divorce laws work similarly here to the way they work where I come from. If one party in a marriage just decides they don't want to be married any more without really any "concrete" reasons, does that give the party that's being left _any_ legal advantage whatsoever as far as assets etc, goes?
Thanks for any input you might have, whether it be definitive answers, or even references on where to find out!

Well over here we say Welcome, but we are sorry you have to be here.
None of us want to be here. [Linked Image from marriagebuilders.com]
In the US, laws vary according to state. But for the most part, reasons WHY you are divorcing really have very little to do with the financial aspects.
------------------
Pain is a given, misery is optional.
