I am ready to leave my husband, but in our state, you must remain separate for 18 mo. unless you have "grounds". I have a credit card in my name only, and he has one in his only (We both had these before the marriage, I don't have a copy of his, don't have my name on the account) A friend told me that I could end up owing 1/2 of the full balance on HIS card, which has $10K limit, simply because I am his current spouse. Is there anything to be done for protection?
