I have been on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds ever since the last D-day and I don't miss a one. Problem is how do you know if your ready to get off of them? I feel good about myself and my situation but I don't know if that is because of the meds or just that I am truly healing. Maybe a few comments about this would be helpful. I am scared if I stop I will freak out or something!
Help guys and girls!

Roughneck - I did try to get off the meds a few weeks ago. Didn't work out, went to emergency. When the stress if low, when you feel you can move on without being stressed out, when you can look in the mirror and say you are a totally wonderful person, knowing that you are a person who will make it without your X. When you know what you do is making you a better person. Just go off it little by little, and see what happens. Don't be alarmed if you realize you are not quite ready. Hopefully you are, I am taking it a day at a time, since my divorce is severely ugly. Trying to live each day is my goal right now.
You are doing good, realizing that you are feeling good about yourself. Remember baby steps are needed at this time.

How 'bout you do something really radical and say, maybe, consult the guy who prescribed them??
Just because we feel like we're doing okay with them, doesn't mean we will do okay without them...this is from the Queen of deciding when to quit her meds and then going off the deep end.
Talk to the doc, dear.

It would be wise to talk to your doctor first since you are taking two separate drugs. Some of these meds are not habbit forming and you can stop...others are habbit forming and withdrawl can be awful. I know I was on a very low dose anti-d for about 10 months...and went off without any problem. Anti-d's help take the edge off so we can function...they don't make life easier...and for some of us, life is constantly throwing us a curve ball.
